<p>Do I have to show financial need to become an RA at Duke? I didn’t get any financial aid, but it was part of my plan to become an RA at Duke to get some money and not have to pay for room. Does anyone know about if thats okay or if it counts as work study?</p>
<p>No, you definitely don’t. It’s totally separate from anything financial aid related, in terms of who gets selected and whatnot. You basically go through an application process, two interviews, and then they choose who gets to be an RA (atleast two years ago when I applied). </p>
<p>It’s not a work study job or anything (although I’d imagine your stipend would be subtracted from any work study amount you have) Your room and board is paid for (and you usually get a double, or a good size single for your room), and you get a stipend each semester as your pay.</p>
