Is there any at Duke? I’ve heard otherwise.

There is, and there isn’t. Sometimes it feels like there is a lot going on, but then some polarizing event exposes just how much more there could be. Sometimes it seems like there is hardly any, and then some other event brings the campus together.

It definitely needs serious work, but there is infrastructure in place to help and there have been great strides in the time that I have been here. In coming to Duke, you get the opportunity to meet folks from all over the place - the hard part is making sure students take action to actually do that.

My brother is a junior and he and his roomate are of different races. They don’t even think about each other in terms of race. They met when they were in the same dorm on East freshmen year. I guess that is a good plug for the freshman housing plan as Duke does it.

there’s been plenty in my experience
