Radiation therapy as pre-med major

I have applied to most of my colleges as a biology major but I applied to St. Louis university as a radiation therapy major because the curriculum appealed to me and they mention in the description that it is a good pre ed major. Does anyone know of anyone using radiation therapy as a pre med major? Curious to see if the deviation from traditional biology major will have any tangible success data. Slu has also offered the most scholarship money out of all of my options so far.

I don’t think med schools care that much what your major is as long as you have completed pre-requisites, did well, and score high on standardized test. However, the radiation therapy major will be great if you decide later that you don’t want to go to med school, if you don’t get in, or if you want to postpone it – you will be ready for a job and employable. That’s a very important thing to consider, because with a typical biology degree, you won’t be able to get a job unless you add something to it.

While many premeds are bio majors, it is not at all expected or necessary for a premed to be a bio major.

My son was a ChemEng’g major. Others here are (or have kids that are) math majors, Classics majors, English majors, History majors, etc. It doesn’t matter.

this sounds like an allied health sciences major though; not a traditional academic discipline. Med schools like to see academic discipline majors e.g. economics instead of accounting, biology instead of nursing etc.
