Is it safe to cross Figueroa to get from the Radisson and back daily? How about during the night (7pm to 11pm)?

Yes, it is safe. Just use the well-lit crosswalk and sidewalks.

nhsharvard, have you visited USC? I am certainly not going to say that USC is located in a great (or even good) area, but I think the danger has been a bit overstated. I have stayed at the Radisson and walked across the street (even at night - gasp!) with no problem and felt completely safe. I have picnicked on the lawns on campus with my younger kids and NEVER felt the need to have pepper spray on hand. We have walked to the museum in Exposition Park.

As Hawkwings says, use the sidewalks and crosswalks. Also look both ways before crossing. You’ll be fine.

yes it is safe, fig is a VERY high traffic street 24/7 and there are always cars and people.

use street smarts, walk in well lit areas, travel in groups if you feel uncomfortable, be aware of your surroundings

Of course being so high traffic you need to always be careful of cars on fig. Never jaywalk, use the crosswalk, wait until you get the signal to walk, pause your ipod, and check all directions to make sure traffic has actually stopped.

I’ve visited USC before. The crosswalk between USC and the Radisson didn’t look dangerous during the day, but I was just wondering about the night time because I’ll be living there next school year and I’ll have classes that end in the afternoon/evening.

I’m curious as to your definition of “dangerous”. At that intersection, I’d be far more worried about getting hit by cars than getting mugged.
