With heavy rain predicted for Sunday the freshman move in day, how do we find out if l NYU will move the date?

Rain or shine, NYU will not change the move in date. Last spring, I moved son out the very last day of possible move out days in pouring rain. It was a mess and very unpleasant. At least I was parked in front of Founders. I saw many kids drenched trying to hail taxis or running with their sacks and bags out towards the main thoroughfare (4th Ave) for taxis or towards the train station.

Hope the rain forecast for 8/28 will be wrong!

Keep in mind that weather constantly changes so that forecast can shift anytime from now til then. It’s extremely common for it to change to a different day or the entire forecast to suddenly become “Cloudy” or chance of “Light Rain” or “Scattered Showers”

Also, keep in mind that you do not HAVE to move in that day. You can theoretically move in any day during Welcome Week. The downside would be that the later you move in, your kid is missing the floor-bonding events and introductory stuff and all the hand-holding the RA gives to walk kids through the roughest adjustment period. If it’s less of a headache to come a day or two later and not deal with a torrential downpour though, you may consider it.
