I am being recruited by Harvard for the sport I play and am very high on their list. They said they would like to see a 30 on the act and I got a 28 in June. I studied a lot and my score wasn’t due to a lack of preparation, it was the fact that I didn’t implement the time management strategies well. They said they will push with a 29 since I am such a desired player. I also need a minimum of 650 on two subject tests. I got 600’s on both US History and math level 1. I am more worried about the subject tests than the act because I already studied for history and was taking the class during that time. Now half the summer has gone by and I will have to re-study. Any tips for raising the math score? I had a tutor but he was really bad I’m wondering if I need to find another one or just practice in books. How likely will it be to raise my test scores?

I completely took the wrong approach on reading and barely skimmed the passages which explains the very low score
your scores or not bad at all. Assuming it wasn’t luck on your second try, keep your english where it is now and dont do any prepreration on it. You need to spend all or most of your time on math and science. Reading is slightly difficult to improve since it is based more on how much literary background you had in your life. You need to learn the math concepts and drill all the questions. skip the last 10 questions and focus on gettin 50/60 right on math could give you around 30. for science, skip the last question on any of the research summaries (fancy term for any passage that has 6 questions) that should give you enough time and your score will probably be around 30 too. Finally, work on reading. I had 23 reading adn now I am in 32ish range. What you need to do is to take three full length reading section practice tests on theree diffrent days. The first, do 35 min and read passage very detailed and go to answer. The second, do 35 min and skim passage and go to answer. third, take 35 min and go directly to questions. Whichever attempt has highest number correct stick with that method. After you have done so, reply to my comment and I’ll tell you the next step for your particular case. I got such a low reading because I didn’t practice my method well enough. After practicing, method 2 reaped huge rewards. Tell me which works the best for u.
