you got it …

What’s grammatrix?

I would really like it if everyone can focus back on the original topic, and help me with some advice on raising 500 points. Thanks, it’s greatly appreciated!

Well whatever grammatrix is, it sounds like something that can help.

I know a student whose score was below 1500/2400 at first but raised his scores up to 1910/2400 in June Sat Test only in three months. I think he was pretty smart, but any one else can do it. Finding a good tutor to teach you and to let you practice is a good option. If not, buy Princeton Review 11 Sat Book and McGraw-Hills Sat Book. Especially, McGraw-Hill Math and grammar study guides are excellent. Study hard those parts first, and do practice, reviewing answers and explanations.
If you can understand all the expalnations, you don’t need to have a tutor. If not, find some one who can help you. In addition, memorize words that were in your practice tests.
If you study really hard during summer with those books, you can definitely raise your scores.

Reply to ccfaithful and everyone else:
Thank you so much. I have 8 months to raise 500 points, so I think I will be able to. I did borrow the Princeton Review 11 SAT book, and I also took a test from it on Monday. I got a large difference from my original practice test. From the Princeton Review, I got 1770, but a few weeks ago when I took my first test from Collegeboard, I got ~1550. I don’t really think that it was possible for me to have that big of an improvement in just 2-3 weeks. Many people say that the Princeton Review and Collegeboard level are about the same, and others disagree. What’s your opinion and everyone else’s? Collegeboard is the SAT maker, so wouldn’t their test be the most accurate???

ohhh ur takin elite?? lol i was soooooo close to join it in irvine, but they ran out of room, im so mad. now im thinking about taking almer’s SAT or PR

It’s a good sign that you got 1770. It means that you can do it. Both PR 11 and CB blue book are good for practice. I recommended PR because it has explanations as well as answers. Once you got 1770, you are in the range.

haha yeah man, great job =)

thanks for the compliments BUT is it accurate?

I raised about 390 out of 2400 with about 5 months of online prep. It’s not that hard if you use something that’s customized to you. I couldn’t afford private tutoring which is probably the best but it’s like $100/hour. I ended up doing prepme.com and had a tutor from University of Chicago so it worked out fine.

flh 91, students need tutors to sutudy according to schedules and to get explantions. So you don’t need a tutor if you can study regularly and understand questions in your books. I saw many many students who raised their scores 300-500: from 1500 to 1800 or 1900. Just study PR, Blue Book, and Mcgraw Hill’s and master them, then you will know.

what do you think of raising from like 1880 to about a 2250 (basically don’t worry about 120 of the points though…that’s no problem)

I seroiusly don’t know, Speed. As you said, rasing 120 points seems to be a reasonable goal. But Once you get to a 2100, then a 2250 will be a next goal!
Mcgraw Hiil’s grammar section is really good, so you can get a 700+ in writing if you master its grammar section, read many 12/12 essays in prep books, and practice to write a good essay. You may be able to get a 700+ in math:you can score a 700+ if you practice tests more carefully. To score a 700+ in a Reading: 1. get 100% by memorizing all the words of your practice tests. 2. As a previous poster said, study “Pride and Prejudice” and master it. I have no empirical evidence for it, but I have a strong hunch that it’s possible.

Thank you…I am 99% sure that i can get a above a 750 in math so i am not worried about that (I took like 3 math practice tests for SAT and got an 800 on 2 and a 760 on the other although I got a 680 on the actual thing)

I went from a 160 sophmore PSAT to a 1890 March SAT to a 2000 June SAT.

I hope to get atleast 2200+

I really need to buckle down on writing, my worse subject by far. Stupid multiple choice.

Sucks that I have to take it again since I also have the subject tests to do.

Sorry for my previous post. I meant to write: 1. get 100% in sentence completion parts by memorizing all the words of your practice tests.
