I messed up my first semester and was also going through a lot with my family as well and I finished with a 2.0. I wanted to know if it was possible if I could raise it to a 2.5 or higher for the next semester I will be taking 16 credits and I am a freshman.
It’s always possible to raise a GPA if you realistically analyze why you didn’t do well, then take action to avoid the same pitfalls. Use the resources at your college to help you. Don’t make excuses. Work hard.
Think about class demands. For example, both literature and history classes involve lots of reading and writing. Avoid classes with lots of Reading unless you are real proficient. Don’t enroll in multiple math and sciences. Plan your schedule. For example, I found it easier to take more than one class on a day and also close in time. My goal was leaving plenty of time for studying and completing requirements. Adjust class times to best fit your person schedule for eating, sleeping, study, even try some early classes. Maximize time usage such as gather notes in separate notebooks when gathering info at the library. Keep a paper day planner to modify schedules and use to update computer calendar.
