Raising SAT scores

What would be the most effective way to raise your SAT grade?
I know that there are many prep classes out there, but are they actually effective?
Some people I know try studying from the SAT books. What do you think?

Our imperial data suggests that for an ambitious individual to succeed in the realm of standarized testing, it is the not the text that an one ganderizes that is of great significance, but rather the calculated percent of effort one indulges in the study. Indeed, to be ambitious to not to be unambitious, and to be unambitious is to be ambitious. This theory of unambstudy entirely exposes a variety of compendiums to instant paraduxtion. Even so, we suggest enchiridions such as Dr. Silverturtle’s ingenious guide, Grammartix, and the promulgated Direct Hits for preparation.

LOL.
You don’t really speak this way in real life, do you?

Anywhos, I thank you for enlightening me.
I see it all too clearly now.

What I’ve learned from CC is to practice, practice, and practice some more using official CB tests (either from the Blue Book, which you can purchase at most bookstores or online, or the online course). Also, silverturtle’s guide is pretty helpful. In fact, I love it. Just saying.
Also, my worst section is math (which seems to be the opposite of the general CC population’s worst section. Whatever) and I’ve become hooked on Gruber’s Math Workbook! I’ve never been good at math, but I’m looking at the math sections in a completely different light now. I’m sure someone lurking around here has an equally enlightening CR suggestion.
Anyway, in short, practice will do you a world of good (less is definitely NOT more in this case!).

I practiced a lot of math questions, so in general I don’t have problem, but the word problems always take me a long time to solve and I got wrong the most. Especially those rate, distance and work problems. After I watched some 3-D animated problem solving videos, my practice score shot up. The 3-D videos show me the relations visually, so I understand the problems quickly without a problem. The place I watched those videos is at FTL Math:

[Faster-Than-Light Math! for SAT Math](http://www.FTLmath.com)

They show you solving those problems in 30 seconds or less and compare different ways to solve them, although you may just use your Facebook or MySpace account to quickly sign in to watch them. Otherwise, you watch the videos showing the slow way to solve them.

1.Take realistic practice tests
2.Recognize the ascending order of difficulty.
3.Read the questions carefully
4.Avoid random guessing in the multiple choice sections
5.Eliminate the deliberately deceptive wrong choices
6.Practice, practice, practice
