Teri, yes, this is the first of our Ds to get married. She’s D1 and we’re very excited. :)

MOWC, I admit that I’m addicted to my computer. I don’t have a Blackberry or an Ipod. My H has the addiction for those. I’m going to look up the Garmin GPS watch as a possibile father’s day gift for him. He’s a runner and he loves collecting watches so this may be the perfect gift.

I don’t think that there’s any question that Kate is a controlling personality. I do cringe when she snaps at Jon (the Toys R Us episode was particularly bad) but I tend to cut her some slack because I canNOT imagine what her daily life must be like. Even after watching every episode of that show multiple times, I can’t imagine taking care of eight kids who were born in a period of 3 years, every. single. day.

zoosermom, thank you for asking. The plans are going very well. Last week we had a meeting to taste wedding cakes. That was fun! We’re currently in the process of trying to arrange the easiest way to get very elderly grandparents who are in frail health, here for the wedding. We’re all hopeful that it can happen.

I hope that can happen too. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed! So . . . wedding cake, huh? What’dya pick? (I love wedding planning, which is why I watch all the shows.) In case you ever want to discuss those plans, you know where we are!

(MollieB’s wedding was probably my all-time favorite CC thread.)

Hmm…we don’t have Cinnabon. I’m soooo depressed. No Cinnabon and No Dunkin Donuts. I am an East Coast transplant to the West Coast and even 23 years later I miss my DD. Love the donut with the white buttercream frosting in it. I’ve even been known to have someone coming from East bring me one on the plane. Day old is better than nothing.
I’ve become addicted to a bunch of TLC shows…I like the one with the Roloffs (spelling) and love Jon and Kate. He always looks soooo tired.
Loved the episode with Alexis at the reptile place…She cracked me up.
I just had two toddlers and we would go somewhere with childless friends who would comment “you are like the general preparing the troops.”
Lol. they would die if they saw Kate prepare to go somewhere.

Well, it will be four tiers, two vanilla and two chocolate, so everyone is happy!

ebeee, I loved the ‘aldergator’ episode, too! Funny thing, I had passed that reptile place on a trip just a few days before I happened to see that episode. Alexis has such a great personality.
p.s. The vanilla creme donut is also my favorite and I can’t get them where I live. I take advantage whenever I’m near a DD to indulge, even though I know I shouldn’t!

Cakes… Yum. My former place of work once ordered a cake from a local artistic bakery to selebrate the launch of our product. Well, the cake was a total hit, the product - not so much. Take a look at this edible art:

We used to have Cinnabon and Dunkin in Seatle, but they’ve been Starbucksed out. There was a Dunkin Donuts shop near the U District, and I swear - evry day I rode the bus past that place, there was a cop car in its parking lot.

I’m watching “Most Outrageous Moments”. Some of it is gut-ripping funny!

Two of the yummiest kinds that we tried were lemon and also carrot but the kids preferred to go with chocolate and vanilla. We will have enough cake for the wedding, for the family gathering the day after, and for the bride and groom to keep the top tier for themselves.

AlwaysaMom, our D got married last year, and I have to say that the times she and I spent together on wedding planning stuff were the best times ever. I really cherish those memories, as well as the memories of the wedding itself.

We were lucky (though I wasn’t sure about that at the time), because D got engaged 3 months before the wedding. She’s always been like that; once she makes up her mind about something, just get out of her way. I’m sure her new H is aware of that by now. :-)

In any case, it was a short, crazy time and it was a total blast. I hope your wedding planning time with your D is wonderful, too!

LOL P3T.
I guess I am fortunate that we don’t have DD or Cinnabon. I don’t think we even have the Cinnabon in our supermarkets but I will rescan the frozen aisles, believe me.

My daughter read it for her high school freshman English class, and it is thought provoking, especially when coupled with watching some of this documentary:

The book is science fiction and describes a time when everyone actually has a feed implanted into his/her body, so there is no need to have a cell phone, internet connection, etc. – it’s all built in!

The documentary has several chapters on how corporations use psychologists and others to better insinuate advertising and branding into our lives, at best subconsciously.

I love Jon and Kate Plus 8 too. The little boy with the glasses, too cute, (remember him at the cow farm, lol), and the “aldergator,” episode was so funny.

Okay, I have to give a shout out to Amazon.com. I really love to read the reviews of products and books, (esp. books). Also, a big shout out to “The Google.” Google is my crack. Any and everything I ever wanted to know, I find it by googling.

Someone mentioned “crackberry.” I have a Palm Centro. What a great little thingee, and it does it all for a more than reasonable price.
