Oh dear, I just learned this news here. I have been concerned ever since I saw his Father’s Day update, about how the kids made tie-dyed shirts for the family, and he said he would get a picture up soon. That picture never appeared, and I took that as a sign things had gotten worse.

He was a class act in SO many ways. In one article I read that he had arranged to have flowers sent from him to his wife monthly after his death. For month number twelve, his note said something to the effect of OK, you have mourned me long enough, now start dating!
What a guy!

I gave copies of his book as gifts to several graduating high schoolers.

I hope he and his family have been comforted by the knowledge of how many lives he has affected so positively.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Randy Pausch was an amazing man. What a gift he gave to the world after he learned he was dying. I watched his last lecture twice, and my daughter watched it when she was home on spring break and loved it. I wish his children could have had more time with him. And his wife, too, was very inspirational in the way she handled this very public experience.

I’m so saddened to read the news of Randy Pausch’s passing. He was an inspiration to me, as he was to millions. He didn’t get a miracle, but he did defy predictions - and made the very most of every extra moment he had. He’ll be missed.

I was so sorry to hear this news. He will be a continuing inspiration to so many others. I am glad to see a call for donations to Pancreatic Research & Education. This is a devastating disease which claims it’s victims quickly. My FIL was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, looked healthy as a horse on Memorial Day weekend, and passed away on July 20th.

Learning of Randy Pausch’s passing just took the wind out of my sails. I saw his last lecture on HBO a few months ago and I have a copy of his “Last Lecture” on my nighttable… that I had been putting off reading (which is the antithesis of Randy’s philosophy). I will start that book today. I really aspire to his philosophy of life. He will be missed.

I am very sad to hear this news. My college roommate lost her husband to this disease at Christmas 2.5 years ago. Randy reminded me so much of him with a similar outlook on life.

Randy will be missed. His book is very inspiring.

I think watching ‘the Last Lecture’ changed my life.
I was also hoping for a miracle for Randy Pausch.

I made my kids watch his lecture on “Time Management” which has some great organizational tips for students. If you haven’t seen it, check it out on his webpage.

I think it’s neat that the Google main page has a tiny line under their search box with just “In Memoriam: Randy Pausch (1960-2008)”. Kind of a silent tribute. If you click on his name, it takes you to a youtube of his last lecture.

I can’t help it. The thought of all that the world has lost by way of this man’s absence from the planet just fills me with incredible sadness. My head entirely agrees with all that Northstarmom has written concerning his legacy. I will be better able to truly celebrate Randy’s life one day. But right now, my heart is breaking.

We read his book at my last book club. Because our meetings are held in public library, they are publicized. Community members who knew R P came to share their personal memories.

AAgghh! I fell asleep half way through the show last night and I really wanted to see it all. Does anyone know if there is a way to see it on line, or will it be aired elsewhere?

3bm-
Is there any way to send it as a digital file on line? I looked at the “Dateline” site on ABC, but all they have up is the very first part, which I saw. I fell asleep as they were about to talk about his 3 kids. I saw all through his wife’s acknowledgement of their “acceptance” of the situration, and that she was at peace with it.

it will probably show up in less than legal distribution formats very soon, but I don’t think links being posted here would be taken kindly to

Sorry jym, I don’t know how. I used to be able to make copies of stuff I tivoed and send to people, but I lost that ability when we got our new tivo. I guess I should figure out how to again.
