Range for Hope from Urinetown

I’m auditioning for Urinetown tomorrow and I’m trying to pick which song to use (I was just emailed about the audition this evening), does anyone know what the range for Hope is? Or at least what the highest note she has to hit is? Thanks!

I did the show last year, and I believe the highest Hope goes is a high A, and that’s at the end when she sings, “This is Urinetown, Urinetown, Urinetown”. Sorry I couldn’t provide more information, but I would reccomend something to show off your higher range, because Hope has to get pretty high!

I can’t say I have first hand knowledge but in my research, I found that Hope’s range is listed as low A to high A flat. The breakdown lists her voice part as soprano. For what it is worth. Don’t rely on me on this since I read that and it is not like I have the sheet music on hand.

I’m just getting ready to do this show myself, and got a look at the score at the audition. Hope is definitely a soprano part, with a high A or Ab – but she does have that final song which is more mezzo/bluesy in style. So a good middle range is important.

Hey guys, I just wanted to say a late thanks for the replies, sorry I didn’t write back sooner!!

How did it go?
