Range of accepted SAT scores for Intl.Students.

BLAH BLAH BLAH, SAT is a test, and a predictable test, if you got enough time to play with it, you can score over 1500+ on the old and 2250+ on the new with ease.

See, the test just hasn’t been around/popular enough.
I.E. let’s take a look at TOEFL, chinese test takers got this test down to the every last question!
i have a friend with over 630 in TOEFL, but can’t understand a thing the prof says (the prof is a good english speaker), he says that when he prepped for TOEFL, the instructor didn’t teach him much english
his instructor gave him pointers like “whenever you see hot dog and pizza on the test, always go for pizza”
and when you see a car and a van, always go for the van. he said he barely understood the readings on the TOEFL, yet he just did what the instructor told him and he got higher than 630

gosh :open_mouth: I thought it was only a rumor.

Yeah, but it still plays a role in admissions.

good luck guys for the upcoming sat

Well, I think there’s an exaggeration on your part. To say most would get 800 (M) would imply that it’s an easy test AND that most people don’t make even one stupid mistake. I agree it’s an easy test but most people DO make stupid mistakes. However, 700+ is very attainable for quite many students in countries like China/Korea/Taiwan.

hey…people…throw me a bone here…what do u mean just by saying…that scoring 2250+ in SAT is a piece of cake…well…it doesn’t make much of sense…math (800) perfect score…ya possible…but lucks got to play a part…and verbal’s like the very devil herself…i think aggregate total of 1400…that’s 640 in critical reading and 760 in maths…is achieveable…

bmelanie, do you understand that you represent a very small demographic group? Most people, even those wanting to go to college overseas do not score that high… Not every one is as talented as the amount of kids in your class.

no way can one score 2250+ in sats easily and to prove point i just need the one figure that says it all…the percentile in score report…

Well if the was as is said … the average percentile of a student with 2150+ sat shud be somewhere near 80% but he get almost a 90+ percentile which testifies that only a very small part of test takers are so successful …

…exactly…getting 1400 in SAT…<comprehensive…critical reading=“” and=“” math=“”>…is like a dream score and it’s really tough…getting 1500+…and thinking it’s a piece of cake…well…two things…either ur that much damn good…or u talk crap…</comprehensive…critical>

I was simply supporting NoFX’s statement about Korean kids being proficient at math - my school is an example of that. I’m definitely not saying that all the kids in the world get 800s in SAT Math!

good for ya…that ur gr8 in maths…so what’s with these koren kids…why r they that much damn good…stupid question??

well it is well-known around the world that korean, chineese people are really great at math…so don’t be surprised they’re getting 800 on the sat.

it’s not surprising…i mean sat math is easy for those which have strong mathematical base…but then again…luck has a part to play…some makes silly mistakes …others tend to find these mistakes and rectify them…and get 800…

 i usually do those silly mistakes although I can declare myself strong in math… but then again this is me we’re talikng about…with me…anything is possible :D

wow…we both are kinda similar…i mean i m also trying to do majors in math…but my english is crap…not that it’s bad but not strong as maths…Verbal has always been my worrie…i was bit worried abt doing major in maths cause i didn’t want to end up being a professor…sounds boring career…lol…no offense…so decided to take up engineering…

after passing through Architecture and Criminal Justice, I’ve decided the major for me is Math. it’s no offense( it’s minus one on my competition list :stuck_out_tongue: ) about my being a proffesor. but in the end I realized that’s what I want. and I also think I could be good at it :D. and btw I doubt a math major will offer you nothing but an educational perspective. there are a lot of other proffesions. but then again, it’s your choice.

I have a friend of Sudanese ancestry (thought born in the US) and had gone to international schools her entire life. Yet, her SAT Math and Verbal scores were both in the mid-high 500’s.

But she got accepted into Carleton College (the one she ultimately enrolled in), Juniata College, Macalester, Johns Hopkins, Wesleyan, Uni of Rochester and another one I forgot. She got accepted by all colleges/universities she applied to and our college counselor put most of them as “reach” based PURELY on her SAT scores!

So I’ll say that SAT scores don’t matter so much. Sure, yeah, it’ll be good to show you can read, write and do math, but we also have the TOEFL requirements and our high school transcript to offset low-ish SAT scores.

And everybody knows the TOEFL is damn easy.

wow…laxmi…that’s gr8…no i don’t doubt u being a professor or something…i think u will be good at it…hey…u mentioned that there are lot of other professions related to mathematics…can u give a few examples…i really like maths and i don’t want to learn science<which i=“” don’t=“” like=“” but=“” have=“” to=“”> for four more years and make a career…thanks…</which>
