Rank for merit award

I’m in the top 10% now, but does anyone know if I have to stay there? It says on the website that “eligibility is determined at the time of the admission decision only,” but I think that might be referring to something else.

To clarify, I’m only a few places out of the top ten right now, so it’s possible I’ll slip back down (especially since I have senioritis. Oops.) Our ranks change each semester, so it should go on the mid-year report.

i thinkkkk that if you got/get it in your financial aid award letter then you’re fine. and you’re right, they do make their decision about the award when they decide to admit you, so if you were top 10 when you applied it should be okay.

Even if your grades stay constant with respect to everyone higher ranked than you… your rank can still go DOWN a little. Why? Answer: dropouts. If the lowest ranked 5 or 10% of your student body decides to drop out of school, move away, join the army, etc. before graduation then a smaller class size can affect your class rank.
