I’m considering self-studying a science course and I was wondering if someone could rank the following:

Biology
Chemistry
Environmental Science
Physics B
Physics C: E & M
Physics C: M

I’m considering self-studying a science course and I was wondering if someone could rank the following:

Biology
Chemistry
Environmental Science
Physics B
Physics C: E & M
Physics C: M

My opinion, never self-studied any of these (for the AP test’s purpose) and pick mathematics / problems up very quickly
Easiest
Environmental Science
Physics C Mech (alone)
Physics C: E & M (alone)
Biology
Chemistry
Physics B
Hardest

Just speculation, I haven’t self-studied any and I’ve only taken 1. Easiest to hardest

Environmental Science
Physics C Mechanics (if you know calculus already)
Biology
Physics C E&M (if you know calculus already)
Physics B
Chemistry
Physics C Mechanics (with no prior calculus knowledge)
Physics C E&M (with no prior calculus knowledge)

Thanks!
I took Calculus (well I’ll finish tomorrow) during the summer. I haven’t taken any AP sciences classes and don’t want to in college…
I’ll self study ES and one more…

Is Physics C okay if you don’t have Physics background?

I’m a huge physics nerd.

The other poster is wrong for the average smart kid (with no physics background). Having good calculus knowledge doesn’t help much for physics c. In fact some calculus nerds at my school tried to form a study group for it: and then they realized that physics is one billion zillion gazillion quartertillian times harder than ap calculus.

In fact the calculus problems are the easiest IMO. Especially on mechanics. I think calculus problems are harder on E&M bug I’m not sure yet as I’ve only done physics b of that so far.

Algebraic proofs are the hardest even for me (I’ve done physics b and honors physics. I memorize so many equations it’s disgusting :().

That said it is most definitely possible to study physics c. Not many topics or equations - just peer brain power is required to succeed. Previous physics exposure has helped me a lot though. I can go straight to the math and not have to worry about the physics part as much (though it can still get tricky).

I mean, you hadn’t taken ANY physic classes?

As for the other sciences I would say:
Don’t self study biology unless you like it. Lots of memorizing and probably will bore you. Also I believe your expected to know certain class labs.

Ap chemistry should be possible enough. I’ll probably self study it my next year.

Physics b is a great self study. I did just that. However literally no colleges accept it really if your going for engineering. I did it for physics c prep. It helps but may not be worth your time if your junior.

I recommend just taking physics c: mechanics. Not many topics, hard test, big reward. Easier than E&M for 99% of people. If your feeling like its easy odor both then :D
