Prestige:

(tie) Duke

(tie) Virginia

North Carolina

(tie) Boston College

(tie) Georgia Tech

Maryland

(tie) Georgia Tech

(tie) NC State

Florida State

That’s just my opinion of it, Georgia Tech doesn’t get a good score academically because I fell that it isn’t a very well rounded university, just good if you want to go for engineering, not so much for liberal arts.

Duke
UVA/UNC - tie

Hehe my beloved ACC.

I usually hate threads like these because they usually end with people splitting hairs, arguing about the difference in the prestige of schools that are pretty equal in prestige. This is different though, and admitone’s (^) seems to be the most “accurate.”

yes, admitone gets my vote for most accurate.

How can FSU be rated under schools like the Univ of Maimi when FSU has more and higher national program rankings?

How can FSU be rated under Georgia Tech when FSU earned the first chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in Florida in 1933 and GT cannot manage to earn a chapter of PBK to the present day?

Duke

Virginia

North Carolina

Boston College

Georgia Tech

Wake Forest

Maryland

Miami

Virginia Tech

Clemson

NC State

Florida State

Prestige wise its:
Duke
UNC, UVA
Wake, BC, GT

Undergrad quality:
Duke
Wake
UVA
UNC

BC
GT

Miami
Maryland

Clemson
VT

NC State
FSU

How inane can you get? Its another thinly disguised attempt for the prestige hounds to toot their horn and claim they are better human beings because they go to a higher ranking school. But what they dont see is how it makes them look…sophomoric and silly and superficial.

Given the inherent inverse relationship between academic quality and football success, I propose that ordering the ACC from lowest all-time football winning percentage to highest is a pretty reasonable ranking:

Wake Forest

NC State

Duke

UVA

Maryland

UNC

BC

Clemson

Georgia Tech

Virginia Tech

Miami

Florida State

definitely agree with all the comments about this thread. I go to Clemson, a school that’s very low in prestige among the ACC schools. However, academically it’s among the top 60 colleges in the country and it’s still a very good school academically. So in my opinion, as long as I’m getting a good education compared to other schools in the country, I could care less where my prestige is among the ACC schools.

Perhaps we should rank the ACC schools by football and basketball envy?
