Rank these univeristies

University of Michigan, USC (southern cal), UCLA, University of Colorado-Boulder, UTexas-Austin, Univeristy of Florida, Michigan State University

Umich, UCLA, USC, UT-A, Ufl, CU-B, Mich state

although umich and ucla are relatively close…basically tied.

If you were to add UIUC where would that fall?

Right up there with UT-Austin

I almost agree with mojo’s ranking, except i would switch CU-B with Michigan State.

well, it really comes down to which program you are talking about but if you consider all the factors (prestige, overall academics, graduation rate, job placement, scores on standardized tests, starting income, etc.), I have to say that Ann Arbor is still one step above UCLA (although the difference is negligible).

UCLA is closer to USC than it is to UMichigan, just as UMichigan is in the league with Berkeley.

If I were to illustrate this with number line from 1 to 10 (1 being lowest ranked and 10 being highest ranked):

UMichigan:9
UCLA:8
USC:7.5
UTexas:7
UIUC:6.5
Ufl:5
Michigan State: 4
CU-Boulder:3

Where would UVA fall into that ranking?

8.5 (Between Michigan and UCLA)
