<p>I see it more as a “chain” in which all are important. The first step is having a high GPA and high standardized test scores, the next is having a rigorous academic and extracurricular courseload, and the third is about your personality and what you could do to enrich a community.</p>

<p>Most people would say the interview is least important, for instance, but it may just reveal something about you that compensates for a weaker area. There’s really no way to gauge each aspect in relevance to the other 2.2 million high school seniors who have taken some direction toward college (i.e., attempted a standardized test).</p>
