How much do colleges differentiate and/or rank APs? Do they value a 5 in AP Calculus AB over a 5 in AP US History? Also, is there a hierarchy of APs? I have taken 4 APs thus far:
AP Calculus AB 5
AP US History 5
AP Biology 5
AP English Language 5
AP English Lit- will take
AP Calculus BC-will take
AP European History-will take
AP Physics B-will take

Are any of these APs considered fluff? Also, I plan to major in either engineering (most likely) or pre-med. Thanks for the help.

They all are pretty serious AP’s, so don’t worry. However, you may not get credit for English Lang. A lot of higher school’s require you to take Freshman English regardless of AP

if ur considering engineering u might want to change european history for another science/math course like stats or chemistry
for ur pre-med might want to consider psychology

for engineering i recommend chemistry instead of european history or maybe just adding it. however, ur fine and havent taken any of the (as i have heard, not called) “******** APs”

do u think that adding environmental science as a semester elective would help for pre-med and/or engineering. otherwise, I can take creative writing.

Actually, I rather disagree with adding more math/science courses - freshmen schedule last, and if you need to take sophomore-level classes, too bad. (I just learned the hard way with ochem.) Also, there’s usually a steep increase in difficulty from intro courses to 200 & 300 level courses. You don’t want to be taking those while you’re still becoming acclimated to your new environment.

Take the humanities courses that you won’t want to take in college, to get all your gen. ed req’s out of the way.

u know if u want to do engineering u are going to have to take chem again anyways. The ap chem taught in most schools is not as hard as college and they don’t do enough labs. I got a 5 on chem, but i am prolly going to retake it in college again (I want to go into engineering)
