For any selective college, Harvard included, your transcript, course rigor, and test scores will put your application into the “good to be reviewed” pile – so I would rank those items first.

Most of the salient details an Admissions Committee learns about an applicant come from recommendation letters, guidance counselor reports and essays – so I would rank those items second, although it is probably where most of the “weeding” takes place.

Lastly, I think it would be extracurricular activities and interview.

Once your application makes it into the “good to be reviewed pile”, much of the decision process is based upon subjective elements, so ranking those items may vary from applicant to applicant.
