Ranking Questions

Ranking Questions
I have a couple of questions.

Where does Monmouth University rank in engineering for undergraduates?

Out of the following which is the best choice for engineering undergraduate program:
Monmouth University
Drexel University
Penn State (Altoona)
University of Massachusetts (Amherst)
New Jersey Institute of Technology

You ask about rankings as if there was one source with the definitive answer. Keep in mind that ranking is a made up form of listing colleges. It does not necessarily reflect the real world, or the liklihood of success of a graduate. They do, however help sell articles about rankings. U.S. News and world report is probably the biggest of the names that offer rankings. In fact, they frequently publish books, and sell online reviews. They have a great interest in convincing prospective students that their rankings are accurate, and important.

IMO rankings should be considered one very small part of the decision making process.

My suggestion would be to look at the employers who recruit at each of those schools. Consider how well-represented industries/companies of interest to you are.

Look at the number of course offerings at each in the sub-discipline of Engineering of interest to you.

Consider all of the non-Engineering related factors of interest to you (size, location, atmosphere, cost, financial aid policies…)

You can search on these forums for other threads which have covered the “how to choose/evaluate a school for Engineering”… there have been many threads.

And there is an Engineering major subforum.
