<p>Okay so I am mad at myself this morning. Last night a local 20 year old in a jacked up truck did major damage to a parked vehicle which is integral to our company and our work.
What burns me is that for years this kid has been driving recklessly.
About a month ago I asked my son who is studying law whether I could report him to the sherrifs. He said yes and I didn’t report anything.
So last night he takes out my car, two mailboxes and an iron fence. Destroys his own car and had insurance to pay for mine so that is the good news.
The police tell me I should have called 911 every time I saw him speeding excessively or driving recklessly. That if I had he would have enough points to lose his license.
Thankfully the accident last night might be enough to put him over the limit.
Thankfully there was no one on the sidewalk and he only did damage to property.
If you have a kid like this in your neighborhood, call it in every time. I wish I had.

<p>I’m so sorry that happened to you. Seeing the title of your post, I immediately thought of a 16-year-old in my own neighborhood. I would hope that by the time he’s 20, he’s over that stage! As a 19-year-old myself, I hate stories like these. Some of us do realize the damage a car can cause - but obviously not enough of us.</p>
<p>Had exactly the same problem in our neighborhood. I tipped off the cop who sits in an unmarked car looking for speeders. The kid was completely reckless to the point where mothers weren’t letting the kids play outside. Anyway, he ended up having his license taken away and now he’s in reform school out of state.(parents’ choice) Sorry to hear about all of your damage. Even when insurance covers it its still a pain.</p>
<p>Sorry to hear about it. I have a theory about guys who drive these big jacked up trucks but it is too vulgar to post here. Let’s just say ‘compensating’ and ‘size’ are part of the thought that pops into my mind whenever I see those trucks.</p>

<p>Swimcatsmom, my H had the same theory about a scrawny punk in a huge Dodge that terrorized our old neighborhood. Lots of sympathy to you, ebeeeee!</p>
<p>My wife often complained to me about one such driver… and like you, she has always regretted not reporting him to the police. </p>
<p>He drove off a cliff, killing himself and one other person and seriously injuring two other teenagers. </p>
<p>Sorry for bringing such a down note into the conversation - but perhaps someone will be faster to call the cops next time.</p>
<p>We’ve had a few “rich suburban neighborhood” equivalents in Connecticut. Unfortunately we only hear about them when they end tragically. And they ALWAYS take innocents with them. Sorry about your truck ebeeeee.</p>

My goodness NJRes you are right! Then of course when I hit that age when everyone starting calling me ma’am everyone seems young!</p>
