Write in a student-run newspaper online.

Work in a non-profit Math Circle where I write handouts in LaTeX and give lectures about advanced competition math outside the typical classroom to middle school and elementary divisions. Some examples of topics: PI&E, Projective Geometry, Pigeonhole, Combinatorics, etc.

Worked as a tutor for elementary students $10/hour.

Research:
Over the summer, I worked as a research intern for a professor in astrophysics to take a novel approach in analyzing the co-evolution between galaxies and supermassive black holes. I derived a novel, convoluted mathematical equation as the basis of the research, writing new relations and equations at high redshifts. My new scaling relations are new and are able to employed to constrain mechanisms for galaxy formation. Additionally, I addressed one of the most controversial topics in astronomy, dealing with instrumental biases.

I submitted to Siemens and became a semifinalist. I hope to submit to other competitions and see where that takes me.

I still continue to further my research. I’ve had a Skype call with a professor from UPenn for a discussion. I’ve also been invited to American Astronomical Society where I’ll be presenting my research.

I see this research to be my hook. I can’t say that it is different from all the other kids who have done research, but this is something that I’ve become actually passionate about.

Aspirations:
These are my dreams and goals for myself. I hope to compete in USACO and get in Gold. I am pretty adept at Python as that was what I used during my research. However, I’ve been learning Java.
I also hope to continue studying for math and get a higher score in AIME.
I plan to learn more about astrophysics and enter in competitions.

Wow. If you actually read this far, thank you. Like seriously, thank you. If you could see whether or not I’m in the right path for myself and what I could do better, I would appreciate it. My dream school is Caltech, but I’m not extremely uptight for colleges. I just want to learn in a good environment where I can develop the skills for research and other stuff.

Thank you <3

Bump^^

Looks good. You might want to apply to the SSP summer program for next summer if you aren’t committed to continuing your research all summer. http://www.summerscience.org
