wait… you’re a freshman graduating highschool? … Dude… you cannot be serious about all those self studies–and all those APs…

holy mother of aps that’s crazy. can u even graduate as a freshmen?

Sent from my SPH-D710 using CC

Yeah, you can, but it depends on your school system (some dont let you skip grades or do online classes or dont have any APs) … But still… thats insane. No offense intended, but, do you have a social life? Friends? Play any type of sports? It is in no way healthy for any human (especially one that hasnt fully developed) to go with human interactions (besides your family). Doing this will make you socially awkward in society… :frowning: its good to have moderation of everything.

I hope they know that colleges look down on graduating early, let alone three years early. But, hey, the person might be using that time to further their skills or work so, meh.

@futrchamp01… 20/10 o_o that’s a lot of self-studies lol.

People look down on graduating early? Wow that’s surprising why? xD I thought it was a good thing?

Senior class schedule:

AP Lit
AP Bio
AP Gov/ Economics (H)
Pre-cal (i know it’s late =_=) Taking calculus summer after senior year so yup.
Stats
Physics class
(Dual Enrollment) Abnormal Psychology (Fall) (sounds interesting lolol)

APUSH (self-study maybe?)
Ap Lang (Self-study maybe?)
AP Psych? (my school doesn’t have the class, so maybe i’ll find a way to take the test in another school, I don’t know i’ll see how it works?)
APWH (if i have time)

Well yah, that’s all the AP courses my school offers.

@asianeekamkee: well, thats what the counselors tell me. Anyways, someone who graduates early cant be a well rounded student (have 100+ hours of community service, awards, presidents of clubs, sports or varsity sports, good teacher recommendations etc). While some of these are attainable, most of them aren’t as a freshman. Also, I read an article about all the really top tier schools getting together and saying that ‘we dont have the perfect student yet, but we know we want students who give back to the community and have personalities’ or something to that affect. Someone who is doing all that, obviously doesnt have these things. But… it looks like this kid might have a good chance at MIT seeing how hes in so many of its programs (though if you’re in a program like this, (or Duke TIP or something) it doesnt better your chance of getting into that school, but I’m sure MIT has a better knowledge of this school now than Yale or Harvard or something)

Also, i think i’d rate it a 7 out of ten, AP English (I presuming thats AP Lit anyways) at my school is basically what all honors kids take when they reach that level (like if you were in honors in seventh grade in my school system, in eighth grade you’re automatically put in highschool Algebra I).

And I in general think self studies a bad idea. The teachers who teach these classes (in school) know what to teach you to prepare you for the exam, explain things you dont understand, and make you do the work and learn the material (unless you want to finish the class with anything less than an a). If you’re doing self study I’d probably higher a tutor of some sort to see once a week (or every other week, and when it get closer to the exam once a week) to help with tips, material, questions etc.

While I’ll have the option to graduate next year because of my credits, I might not go in to college right away. I can either stay for a year or so taking electives and such to have more time for ECs, or take a gap year and get work experience. I’m already involved a few clubs (NHS, Captain of Academic Team, Captain of Varsity Tech Bowl Team, Drama).
Nothing particularly special, but I’m looking into applying to MIT, Stanford, or a British Uni, as well as the shoe in state schools and LACs. From what I’ve read, Oxbridge doesn’t really care about ECs since the system there is purely exam based, so I’m a very strong candidate there for the maths course. I also have a chance of getting into MIT purely on my academic merits, but I realize that it’s not a sure thing unless I cure cancer before I’m 15. Stanford might take me based on my EPGY schedule and other achievements.
The self studies aren’t all necessarily things I have to work on. Primarily in Calc and Physics, it’s hardly something I have to actually study for (not trying to sound pretentious or anything), and for the rest, I’ve been going through the previous exams and I would have a very good chance of at least a 4 on them with a good amount of study time, particularly the easier ones like ES and Psych.
Nonetheless, I’m probably not going to go into college right after my 15th birthday, precisely for the reasons you all gave. I’m still going and doing the normal ECs and community service, but I accelerated my academia far ahead to open more opportunities, so I’m allowed to graduate early based on that, but there’s not a good chance I’ll sprint right into college, especially at an American University.
Because of my AP credits and such, I’d place out of most of the MIT GIRs and I’d only need to take a few classes to complete a math major, and likewise with my probable Physics double major. Even if I got a double degree at 17, it’d be of no practical use unless I went into a PhD/ScD program. I wouldn’t be allowed to get a full time job without jumping through hoops with the government, etc. and it would generally be a worthless credential. So, regardless, there’s a 99% chance that I won’t be the Doogie Howser of MIT.

^ o.o

10char

$10000 that futrchamp is asian.

I’m willing to match that @bricksquad.

@teaspoons
Well I came from a Catholic middle school. It was the first time my eighth grade teacher taught ever, he didn’t teach math at all o_o no lie. So I bombed the placement test going to high school. But hey, i’m increasing a math class up, by taking math summer classes. :)

I’ve taken AP lang the class. I already taken the test, so I already know what it’s like. I just want to retake it. As long as a I keep my notes, have detailed essays, and prep myself with multiple choice questions i’m good.

I don’t think my parents are willing to get me a tutor. LOL their already ****ed off at me for buying the SAT book subject tests, SAT, AP stuff, and ACT books. LOL.

And well i’ll try. I have the internet, and the study guides, so just wish me luck :3.

LOL i’m with brick squad. I bet he is xD. That’s like the majority race of people in this site.
