RD 2013 Anxiety Thread

I texted my mother 3 times to clarify there was no mail for me today. THEN I made a sleuth call to admissions asking when east coast applicants would receive decision letters. the receptionist said they are generally mailed during the last week of march and it depends how fast or slow the postal service is. ughhh agony

I’ve only received acceptances thus far (Mount Holyoke, Sarah Lawrence) - but I’m so paranoid that will be the end of that streak. At least I know for sure I’ll know Bryn Mawr tomorrow…

Mt. Holyoke and Sarah Lawrence are great schools. And very popular, especially SL. I mean, even Blair didn’t get in!
I feel for you guys and my daughter, too. You all work so hard and deserve so much. Try not to torture yourselves.
English Ivy, I bet you’re in the middle of your winning streak.

Hiya. I’ve been poking around for a while but I thought I’d post since I’m gonna die of anxiety. xD I originally applied to Barnard because one of my best friends loved it and convinced me to. Now I feel like if I got in it’d be a major consideration.

So anyway, hello. =)

Welcome, Lauren8822!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, girls!

No mail today for me either :frowning: Not even my family is getting mail. We got 4 ads and a birthday card today and the same (minus the card, plus a bill) yesterday. Weird!

Ah, no mail today!!!

Nothing from Barnard today… but I did win a scholarship!!

Yeah, I don’t think Barnard is sending out this early. My friend got her ED decision about 3 days before she expected it. Since we’re supposed to get it April 1st I bet it’ll come out by the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

I live in NYC, not too far from Barnard, so I’ll probably get the letter right after it goes out. I’m probably getting a rejection but I’ll try to stay positive. =P

I wouldn’t be surprised if they mail them tomorrow.

Good luck everyone!

^ Me neither.

Most likely we’ll get them by the end of this week or beginning of next.

I definately can’t wait until next week. :(

I really can’t wait until next week, for various reasons:

a) I REALLY need to know if I need to book a flight to NYC for NEXT WEEKEND for NYU or if I can forgo that.
b) My parents already messed me up by not allowing me to apply ED, so it’s kind of like…I need to know right now, since if not, I need to give myself time to move on so I don’t have to randomly choose a school next month :(

I want to know!

I got into Acadia! Heh, not a huge deal, but it was something. Hearing from Bryn tomorrow, Wesleyan the day after. We’ll seeeeeeeee. Ugh, Barnard, send me my letter already!

Okay I decided to look on the admitted students website for visit dates just in case. One of the visit dates happens to coincide next weekend with the NYU thing, so I think I’m going to book a flight anyway. That way, if I get in I can still visit and if I don’t, I get to have fun in the city with my friend at NYU and visit there.

squaregirl, congrats! :)

mp, good contingency plan. Let’s hope that you’ll get to see Barnard then!

And, gah…since people started hearing on the 22nd last year, I feel like I’ve been waiting forever. It didn’t help that when I came home today I saw a big white envelope sticking out of my mailbox…that happened to be for one of my parents :[

etched, that happens to me ALL THE TIME. My parents are ALWAYS getting mail in big white envelopes and it toys with my little emotions. So sad.

Ugh…and yeah, why did they hear so early this year. I’m resisting a very strong urge to call Barnard and ask when they’re mailing–I don’t want to make them mad by pressing them when they’re doing their best. But, um, if I get a big package, I’m sending my deposit in soon after.

so i was just rejected by BC, so i’m most likely getting rejected from Barnard…good luck to the rest of you ladies. Here’s to hoping I get wait-listed :'(

superwoman, I got an “Unlikely” from Wellesley (i.e. a rejection), so I haven’t been too optimistic about my shot at Barnard either. But we’ll never know till we get our letters! Sigh.

mp, yeah! I wish when I came home there could be a blaring, “You’re in!” and confetti comes out of my mailbox :stuck_out_tongue: But I guess we just have to exercise that virtue of patience, heh.

superwoman and squaregirl, don’t lose hope! Hope was what was kept in Pandora’s box while every other terrible thing was expelled – don’t let it go away because it has so much power  It’s possible that Barnard saw something in you guys that those other institutions didn’t (and obviously it’s their loss). You’re both amazing ladies, so don’t let those things influence your life that much. Let them make you stronger and more determined to do the great things you’ll undoubtedly accomplish.

waitlisted from Smith so I’m expecting a rejection from Barnard too… what can ya do?
