RD 2013 Anxiety Thread

Superwoman - don’t give up! judging from what I’ve seen I think you’re a really strong applicant in a way that women’s colleges like to see. Coed colleges, I think, wouldn’t be as swayed by all the things you’ve done, but I definitely think that women’s colleges will be. And I think that Barnard (with all their crazy essay questions) really gives girls a chance to show what they’ve got going. It’s not your standard application.

Congrats on Holy Cross! Question - how did you find out you got in? Do they have something online or did you get something in the mail. I applied but I have heard literally NOTHING from them. They never said they got my app….they never communicated with me at ALL. All my other colleges at least sent a “thanks for applying we look forward to reading your app.” type thing. I dunno.

Tomorrow’s gonna be a long day. Can’t wait for Monday!

aww, sonjanicky29, thanks :), yea, im holding on hope.

thanks inasummetown!! That helped, and yea, those essays bled my heart out.lol, but yea I got the Holy Cross decision via mail and yea, theyre really bad about emails and stuff, i never received one either! But the acceptance letter dated March 25 so thats probably when they started sending things out!

p.s. hope u get ur decision soon & get accepted of course :)

thanks, me too! Well…we have a high chance of maybe going to the same school together. We applied to a lot of the same places! That makes me really happy! :)

I’m definitely going to the city to visit NYU and stay with my friend there next weekend, so hopefully that will convince me I can be happy elsewhere. I think it’ll convince me to go to NYU when Barnard rejects me.

Congrats, superwoman, on Holy Cross!

haha NYU is a great school. I actually applied Early Decision to NYU but got rejected because my SAT score was low at that time. I’m really glad that I’m in Barnard now, but yeah, NYU is great too!!!

inasummertown- aww, I know. I feel like all of us will end up fairly close! :)

mp153- aww, have fun! NYU is GORGEOUS! And Thanks!! Yes, I’m doing a mass prom dress voting amongst my friends lol, it seems to be the easiest way to choose between the several dresses I want lol.

cantochickk- wow, that’s great!! What a coincidence! Looks like fate brought you to Barnard :)

I got in to Barnard! BUT they gave me ZERO financial aid. ugh. I cried all day yesterday. I wrote a letter to the FA office, but I doubt they will appeal. I just don’t know how to turn down Barnard. This is so depressing.

HannahB- Congrats! Lucky! I wish I knew–I’d be HONORED to get wait-listed. Anyway, I’m sorry about your FA!!! I know how you feel :frowning: ! Well, just wait and see what they say, you never know! :)

Hannah–Uggg. That sucks, sorry.

Has anyone else noticed that this thread has had over 30,000 views? That’s insane.

^ lol yeah, this thread is insane!! 77 pages… sheesh.

Sigh, here’s hoping that my acceptance will be in the next batch!

Mine too! Please?:)

haha, I know! AMAZING. We’re famous ladies. :)

YESSS! I can’t wait for the mail to come tomorrow (hoping for good news, of course :D).

I mean, they wouldn’t send all the acceptances first and then the rejections/waitlists separately, would they?

I haven’t posted on here before, but I think this thread is really cool! Definitely convinced me that Barnard girls create a tight-knit community
I’m really bummed though, because I’m pretty sure I didn’t get in (couldn’t log in to the accepted students thing and haven’t gotten any mail). But last night I dreamt that I was accepted at Barnard, and I was so elated, because I really need some good college news after all the rejections/watilists. But then I woke up. And was just even more depressed about my probable rejection.

Well someone who got their acceptance said that on their package it had A1 circled on it. So maybe it’s like, A1, A2, A3… etc… meaning acceptance batch 1, acceptance batch 2, acceptance batch 3… that makes sense to me.

If you really want to know, you can probably keep checking that admissions site and plugging in your number to see if they updated it but I’d honestly advise against that because it’ll just make you more nervous!

Edit: anxioustohear, don’t worry. A lot of girls couldn’t log in either but I’m pretty sure that’s because they just haven’t updated the website with other IDs. After all the only people who could log in were those who DID get their admissions packages.

Geez, I still haven’t heard anything from Barnard. This worries me considering I live so close. I haven’t tried logging into the site because I don’t want the added stress. I was waitlisted from BC on Friday though, so probably not a good sign.

It’s almost over though guys. It’s already March 29 and I’m sure almost everyone will know by April 1. =/

Neethus, haha the ‘A’ really could stand for acceptance! I never thought of that. I like this theory.

I’m praying that you are right neethus.

I was just waitlisted at Bates and rejected from BC, so I’m feeling pretty crappy. Barnard is one of my top choices, along with Bryn Mawr. I got into Bryn, but I feeling like the fact that Barnard is in NYC. Ughhh.

^ Don’t worry  Every school is different, honestly. One may be looking for what another is not.

It’s just scary that we’ll all find out in a few days…! Ah!
