RD Advice

I was just accepted to Georgetown (yay!), but Yale still remains my top choice, though now that I have an EA acceptance, I can worry just about the Yale application instead of the pile of others (safety schools, etc). I was hoping you had some Yale specific advice for how to paint myself when I apply:

I posted something similar a while back, but it evolved into a discussion of my school’s ACT/SAT policy.

GPA: 4.2 (w)*

Honors/AP courses are weighted 4.5, not 5.0
My course load is the most demanding offered.
My school does not rank.

*We are limited in the number of honors/AP courses we can take prior to Junior year. My junior year GPA was a 4.4 (while still limited to 4 honors/AP courses).

Scores:

ACT:

35 Composite (35E, 36M, 34R, 35S, 10E)
35 Composite (35E, 34M, 36R, 33S, 12E)
35 Composite (35E, 35M, 36R, 32S, 11E)

SAT:

2230 Composite (710 M, 760 R, 760 W)

SAT Subject Tests/AP Tests:

U.S. History:800 (5 AP)
Math II: 800
Literature: 760

Extra-Curriculars:

Please, just be yourself, that’s what Y wants to see.

You are obviously a credible candidate. Congrats on the early Georgetown acceptance. Now you can focus on just a few RD schools. There is nothing Yale specific to report.

Why would you retake the ACT when you scored a 35 the first time? Do you think one point would matter to the colleges?

^ agreed, taking it again after a 35 - twice - was a bit excessive.
But anyway, you look like a very strong candidate. Good luck :)

Let me put it this way, my common app essay was about perfectionism and self control. It was a rather self deprecating portrayal of my quirks. Apparently Georgetown found it charming, hopefully Yale will too :)

At least I’m consistent… no one will doubt the validity of my essay when they see that…
