Agreed - impressive stats and activities. I hope your essays will show who you are, what you are passionate about, what you have learned, and what you have contributed.

i heard that its nearly impossible for eastcoasters to get into stanford no matter how good they are… last year, a really well qualified girl applied ea to stanford and got rejected. she got accepted to harvard instead. and i really really would love to go to stanford!! its one of my favorite schools <3 im applying ed to princeton bc of its location though

really? bc i know so many ppl that have been accepted to hyp and have been rejected from stanford. so i’m kind just shooting in the dark with my app to stanford

I am sure that there are just as many that were accepted to Stanford and not to HYP. It can be expected at schools with such low admission rates.

It’s just that over the last five years, noone from my school has been accepted to Stanford. In contrast, my school has sent A LOT of people to hypm. I would really like to find out why

We have a similar experience. In the last couple of years 9 kids got into Harvard, 4 into Yale, 2 into MIT - mostly the top students. Only 2 have gotten into Stanford, and one with scores that placed him smack in the middle of the scattergram was a legacy and an URM and had political connections. I don’t know who the other kid was, but he/she also had middling grades and scores. It makes me think my son’s chances are pretty slim.

I think that when a school has a history of sending a lot of people to one of HYPSM, it could be because the GC has some sort of “relationship” with admissions. It does not mean that anyone that is not qualified will have a chance of getting in, but it helps the students that are qualified.

Similarly, I heard that a HS could be “black listed” by colleges for things like dishonoring ED admissions… Who knows?

wow i think you look great, whimsical. the solar panel thing sounds so cool. and you ran a MARATHON? wow.

random question i just thought of: are you allowed to submit your application ON december 15th? is it due by 12am on december 15th (night of dec 14) or 12am dec 16 (night of dec 15)?

Looks good. Why are there so many ppl in NJ who have performed at Carnegie Hall? Two ppl on the Yale board who were from NJ also performed solo at Carnegie Hall.

nahh i’m a [decent] asian pianist i’ve never touched any piano other than my own and my teachers =) but yeah carnegie hall sounds impressive to me
