Honors British Literature 12:

Honors Latin IV:

(I didn’t take AP Literature because of scheduling; band I could not take because AP Biology is a double-period class).

Our grades for the first semester are not in yet, but my grades for the first quarter were as follows: A (Honors British Literature 12), A+ (Honors Latin IV), A (AP Biology), A+ (AP US Government and Politics), A- (Honors Precalculus)

My final grades should all be A’s and, judging by our school’s “Parent Portal,” they are.

I have interviewed, attended traveling functions, and been on campus. My essays should be fantastic; writing is one of my talents. GWU is a top choice; however, I applied RD because of financial concerns. I’m a middle class, white female- binding was/is not an option. I’m afraid that my RD application affects my chances. How much, though, I do not know.

I’m most concerned with my ACT/SAT scores; both were sent in, though I think the SAT better accentuates my talents (that is to say, the writing section). I do not know why my math score is so horrendous (math is certainly not a talent, but a 570 is far below my potential…my grades are not inflated). I’m, therefore, convinced that my scores are the result of little preparation. I have always put my school grades first, so SAT/ACT always got put aside; furthermore, I have this nasty habit of running out of time on the math/science ACT sections! Otherwise, I’m almost certain, those scores would be much higher.

…but, to cease my ranting, what do you think of my chances?

“binding was/is not an option”

It doesn’t matter now, but for the record, if a school’s ED financial aid offer isn’t enough (the family decides, not the school), you tell them thanks but no thanks and apply RD elsewhere. With ED you can’t compare offers, but since ED is for your by far number one choice, you should care only if you can afford it.

Have a look at GWU’s Common Data Set <a href=“Institutional Research | The George Washington University”>Institutional Research | The George Washington University; to compare your stats with those of recent matriculating freshmen.

dude, relax…i’m pretty much 100% sure that you’ll get in.

sorry, you’re not a dude, but you got what I meant

@Vonlost: Ah, you’re right. My father was quite strict, however, about not applying ED (unless my aims were directed at a public school). I’m of the opinion that he did not want to deal with the “thanks, but no thanks.”

Still, it’s good information. Thank you!

@manni9422: I forgot to breathe again, didn’t I? Goodness. /Relaxes/

Ahaha, I know what you meant. Thank you!
