please tell me if i have a chance i think that i am doomed due to a 3.65 gpa
also if it helps my dad is a law professor at a university and a judge

we love you and good luck, but please try the chances board! mwauh! :)

thanks, I guess I lack common sense, just kidding, I never thought of the chances board!

I took Single Variable Calc this summer! Were you in my class? Ummm, the class with the genius 14-year old? Unless you are the genius 14-year old…

I didn’t mena it that way. I sound like a meanie. :(

Haha Chidimma, you definitely didn’t sound like a meanie!

I forgot to say 2 after Calculus of functions of one variable, how was calculus of functions of one variable 1, did you guys have to know precalc before you took the class, I was just wondering, I have this friend that wants to take it but he hasn’t had precalc yet, he was hoping he could skip precalc and go to AP Calc by taking that course.
sorry for the short story

I took the class right after I had finished AB, so it was a WHOLE LOT of review. In retrospect, I really should have taken II or maybe even Multi. Anyway, as for taking it before precalc? That might be a bit difficult. The professor breezed through the whole fundamental theorem of calculus, and someone who has never been exposed to it before could easily be confused. It depends on the type of student that he is. I would be more enthusiastic to recommend taking it after a year of precalc, and then he could probably skip AP Calc. At the very least, he would be WAY ahead of everyone else come September.

I never took precalc, but math comes naturally to me, I had taught myself calculus during Algebra 2; was Calculus of functions of one variable 1 impossibly hard to get an A in it, because my friend would die if he got a B, he’s an A student in math, but not the best.

It’s certainly not impossible to get an A, but I don’t recall the other high school students in my class doing spectacularly. The professor had a wacky way of grading which was really really frustrating, and I ended up with an A-. If he works hard, he could definitely get at least that.

Btw, it’s really impressive that you taught yourself calculus. WOW

Thanks, math has always been my forte, are you applying to Yale also, if you are, are you doing EA or RD?

Yep, I’m doing EA. 3 days, 7 hours!

Good luck, im applying RD so I will be waiting until next year
