RD roster

I applied RD… I still haven’t gotten a chance to go visit the campus, however I was in DC about 3 years ago. Its about a 6 hour drive from where I live so my family and I decided just to go visit if I got in…
My stats are:
3.9 weighted gpa, SAT 670m/610v, ranked 10/121

GW has a sense of community. It’s Foggy Bottom.

Yeah, I think people always overgeneralize GW as having “no campus” without ever actually visiting or searching for the campus.

Hippodrome: I am so totally pro GW. Its an awesome school and I preface this by saying it that Ive applied and am seriously considering it as one of my top choices. Now, the thing about the GW campus is that although there is a “campus” its not exactly in the traditional sense. I mean when most people say they want a campus they want a quad, trees and benches, gated in, clear university territory without having to search for it. I’ve never really needed all of that cliche “movie campus” stuff so I like GW’s setting. However I understand why some people think GW has “no campus”. A) you have to search for it and B) when you “find” it, you come to see that its not the “ideal” picturesque college campus.

I completely agree. It is urban in every sense, and is definetely traditional. I didn’t want the “movie campus” setting either. I love GW’s busling neighborhood. However, pretty much everything in Foggy Bottom is GW territory. It is still a pretty area, especially the small park. I agree completely agree with what you said. In fact, A & B attracted me to GW.

Hippodrome: I think you meant non-traditional.

Yes, woops…I also messed up “busling”…should be bustling…I think?

I applied RD and my stats are 1430 SAT, 800/760/740 SATIIs, 3.7 gpa, no rank, many ECs with leadership positions in just about all of them, and plan to double major in History/Political Science.

SAT-1470, GPA-3.5
The city attracted me, i want to major in IR or political science

Is anyone else worried about GW’s rep for majorly snooty students?

xbisoubisoux-are you ED II?

I am slightly worried about the snootiness of the students, but I think that’s a stereotype because of the high tuition. The two times I visited, people were fairly friendly. The campus was really busy and there were tons of GW students crowding the streets just chilling on the sidewalks.

no im RD and i used the common app, my worry about them is because I have money but I don’t act like it, or have anything expensive since I live in California and no one here cares at all where your clothes are from, who your family is, or even what stuff you can buy. Theres none of that prep school stuff either.

I’m from California and I agree with you Bisou, I don’t really care about about brand names and money. But I think there’s snooty people and non-snooty people in every college and since GW and the city are big you’ll definitely find a niche somewhere!

yeah you’re probably right^ it is a really awesome city
