Just not worth the money, really.

i got into GSP.

SAT: 1310/1970
SAT II: 800 Math IIC, 710 Physics

happy ? im not sure

hey guys,

got into gsp London today, initally applied to Stern
German High-School 1/135
SAT : 1860
ACT : 29
TOEFL : 113

good essays, great rec

i definitely am bloody happy…GSP will make my CV way more interesting, having done one year London, 3 years New York, or maybe even a further study abroad year once at Stern - is that poss by the way to do another study abroad year after having been admitted through GSP???
Oh and in the E-Mail it says I have to reply within 2 weeks of receipt… But I would like to wait until April 1st to see whether I have been accepted elsewhere???

Does the two week frame apply to when I received the E-mail, or the official letter???

I got into GSP as well

SAT: 2070
GPA: 3.7
IB Diploma Student

EC’s: Volleyball (travel and varsity and USA program), Lacrosse, MUN, Habitat for Humanity Founder…and a bunch of other stuff

Other Acceptances thus Far: University of Chicago, American (safety)

the only thing I’m bummed about is that I wanted to try for the Int’l Relations Honors major, and I’m not even sure if I can do that since I am a gsp student…hm…

katiekorea… why in the world would you even CONSIDER NYU GSP when you got into an amazing school like Uchicago!!! :-O

yeeeeah i know haha…my top choices are actually Columbia and U of Chicago…NYU was up there as well but im just not sure about the whole gsp thing:)

yeah… i’m in the same situation as you… i mean my first choices are yale and duke… and i got into Duke! but anyway… NYU sucks for putting us in GSP i think (not that i was EVER planning on going to NYU CAS anyway)… youre much better off at UChicago… besides they obviously were able to see how amazing you are when NYU couldnt (sucks for them)

seriously, other college acceptances are really making me start to hate NYU. If I can get into these other schools, why not CAS at NYU?

Like I said, it seems like this years incoming class was really competitive for whatever reason.

No offense to anyone, but it kind of makes me angry when kids apply to some school despite the fact that they never wanted to go there anyway, because they’re just wasting $75 and taking someone else’s spot.

so are you saying you ONLY applied to your top schools? just because NYU isn’t the top of some people’s lists doesn’t mean “they never wanted to go there anyway.”

“the only thing I’m bummed about is that I wanted to try for the Int’l Relations Honors major, and I’m not even sure if I can do that since I am a gsp student…hm…”

If you get into GSP and you are planning on 4 years of collee, you just can’t do some majors, right? For example, Russian and Slavic Studies major - NYU says “All courses offered by the department count toward the major except for Elementary I & II, Intermediate I & II, Russian Grammar and Composition I & II. Students need to take at least one Advanced Russian course unless they can demonstrate near-native proficiency in writing and reading Russian.”

So if you started taking Russian at NYU in your junior year, you wouldn’t finish the major in 2 years - you wouldn’t have gotten to advanced
Russian yet

International Relations Major

My daughter’s friend went to GSP 2 years ago, wanting to do IR. At the end of her 1st year she was told that she would not be able to, as GSP has some classes that she was required to take, that would leave her no opportunities for the IR pre-requisites. She was also told that IR majors would be applying/declaring at the end of their 1st year at NYU, while she had to wait until the end of GSP, so her chances were 0, and she should consider another major. I was really angry for her situation.

chocoholic, although it’s a shame that your daughter’s friend didn’t get to do IR, she should have known that before she started in GSP. You don’t apply to get into IR, which is a very selective program, until the end of freshman year anyway. NYU makes this pretty clear to anyone researching the program.

So most of you applied to CAS and were accepted to GSP? I applied to CAS and haven’t heard back at all yet - that’s probably a bad thing…right?

well you might be in, you never know!

haha yeah. I’m sure they’ll send a rejection letter so that I can be sure :)

I’ve been looking through the forum, and am unsure, Are kids still getting gsped? Or did that end in February? Because I have very similar stats and am beginning to think I will be outright rejected!

i heard alot of the ppl from gbury,ct are getting rejected cuz they already have too many going to nyu from the school there

someone please answer yazzz…im in the same situation!!
