RD to GSP

Someone Please!
Are people still getting Gsped or did that already end in February?
Thanks

a friend’s son was “gsp-ed” this week. A student with 2050 SATs and a 3.7 GPA with amazing ECs and Recs. Must be a competitive program these days.

Do you know when he applied, I sent in my RD stuff in December so I bet they’ve had plenty of time to pour over my file!

i dont think that really matters…although i dont know what matters, this gsp thing is getting on my nerves…

how DARE they offer us an AA instead of BA or BS

You have the option to refuse the GSP offer. What do you mean “how DARE they”? Get a grip. If you weren’t aware of the possibility of GSP, then you didn’t do enough research into NYU. If you maintain your gpa, then you’re guaranteed entry into the college to which you originally applied, and then you’ll get your degree.

Ah! I just got into GSP 10 days ago. I was just like *** at first, but after researching what people have said about it, I think I’m going to accept.
My guidance counselor said NYU is definitely the school for me, considering he sees me as a sardonic artsy type. NYU is the only school I can see myself attending besides Parsons anyway. Besides, NYC is my only love…

Stats:
Persian/Norwegian female
Top 13% public NJ school
2010 SATS (630 m, 680 r, 700 w)

random ec’s
Reccomondations- very good

Yay Gsp :D

I’ll post my GSP stats to make self feel better.
SAT: 1340, 2050
GPA: 3.34, 4.07+
560 Bio, 650 Math 2, 640 US

Decent essay

I kinda feel I got into NYU program for stupid people…

-The Stupid Coot66

i have a little better stats, top 10% and 1390 SAT, and haven’t gotten gsp yet, I think I should expect a rejection letter soon!

yeah i feel the same way! [about getting into a program for stupid people]… it’s really a bruise to the ego more than anything else. like, how come cornell and duke want me but not NYU, you know? it just doesnt even make any sense and i hate saying i got into those schools but couldnt get into NYU CAS… it doesnt sound right

yeah i know how you guys feel. when i got my rejection/gsp letter, i couldn’t stop reading over the sentence that said i wasn’t accepted into NYU’s CAS. but then i read something about gsp and i too thought it was a sped program for NYU rejects.
after researching it extensively, i found that it isn’t the case at all. in fact, you get most of your required classes over by the end of freshman year, which is pretty much the same with most of the schools i applied to. if you really want to go to nyu, which i do, then definitely do the gsp program.

I got GSPed for Tisch Film and TV.

I think I’ll accept, because I agree with you trendy. I read up on it, and for Tisch, it seems that you enter after freshman year as a sophomore, instead of after sophomore year as a junior. They will make me take some summer courses in 2008 for Tisch, I guess to catch up, and then I’ll have 3 gauranteed years at Tisch.

Doesn’t sound like a bad deal at all for such a competitive and prestigious school. I think I’ll do it.

Oh yea, stats.

1340 SAT old, 1980 SAT new (670 R 670 M 640 W (but a 12 essay))
3.9 GPA UW 4.8 GPA W
Okay recs
good essay
normal ECs
good movie submission, decent creative portfolio

■■■■■ @ you people. Grow some spines, please.

adobevideo16- a 4.8W GPA, OMG what the hell is wrong with NYU?

yazzz 4.8w gpa doesnt really mean much for tisch because once you’re above a certain point, the grades and academic things dont really help you that much. i’m not saying you dont need good grades, but tisch is not just academically focused like some stern or cas. i believe half of the application is the project or portfolio they send in.

yazzz i thought i read somewhere that you were going to columbia, why are you worrying about the gsp still?

anyone know the site where we have to go on to request a formal GSP admissions offer in April?

I don’t think I got GSP’d because of my GPA (4.8) or my creative portfolio (because I was put on the Tisch track which says that you already submitted a “successful portfolio”).

I think maybe my SAT was a tad lower than some. 1980…

Or… I’m from NC. NC schools aren’t the greatest at all, compared to school systems in other parts of the US. NC is ranked like… 44th lowest in education. Maybe NYU took that into consideration.

I don’t know, and I don’t care. I’m fine with GSP for one year, then some summer courses, then Tisch my sophomore year. I’ll be at NYU, I’ll get my major, my connections, everything else, in NYC. Dern, how in the world can anything bad be said about such a deal?

GSP here I come.

Tyler

well, I have confirmed through internet to receive a GSP offer, but i can still choose not to go,yeah?:(

yeah, that wasn’t a committment of any kind. it’s just so they can send you your official admission.

being a current GSP-> Tischie, it’s a good deal. I know tischies who wish they were in GSP because you skip all the random freshman classes and get most if not all your liberal arts credits done. Plus you start in the fall of sophomore year with a s & s class from the summer (only 6 weeks) under your belt. So at least in my case, I’m coming out ahead of my other fellow Tischies.

My daughter just got into GSP; Can any current students advise how the journalism school and creative wiring minor are?
