RD to GSP

oh and another thing, can you start and finish gsp in NYC or must you go abroad?

when you get accepted into gsp, you have to pick your school site within 3 weeks of the date of the e-mail/letter. you get to choose from london, paris, florence, or new york city as your campus. and you pick between staying there your freshman or sophomore year.

clandestine, congrats on UMich! I wanted to apply but my parents would never send me there. My parents only know the brand name schools, meaning the ivies. My dad wondered why I didn’t apply to Princeton. My dad doesn’t like the fact that my first school choice is in Evanston, which is near Chicago. If I don’t get into the ONE ivy I applied to, which I probably won’t, he wants me to go to STONY BROOK! And, as a prestige whore, I don’t like the sound of that.

Stony Brook is one of the top hundred. However, it is BORING there. it takes an hour to get to the closest movie theater by bus! at least it has a real traditional college campus. I heard Evanston is an women’s college in Northwestern University. Northwestern is better known, perhaps your dad would let you once they know it is part of Northwestern.

Damsel - Thanks! I’m guessing your first choice is Northwestern? I’d go there anytime over Stony Brook…but I guess that depends on personal preference. Which Ivy did you apply to? Anyway, good luck with NU!

does anyone happen to know if all GSP letters have been sent out? thanks!

and are they sending all of the GSP letters early, or are they also sending GSP letters out in April 1st too?

Same questions as the previous 2, and are they finalized with ALL decisions for GSP and RD?

They usually send out GSP letters a few weeks before April 1st, but I’m not sure if they’re done sending them yet.

I’m not applying to a women’s college in NU.
Yes, my first choice is Northwestern.
Even if I explain the prestige of NU to my dad, he will not understand. I’ve tried.

My ivy is Dartmouth. I only applied for the hell of it haha. But, when the alumni was selling the school to me, it reeeeeeally interested me. :(

haha is your dad asian? if so your dad seems to have a worse case of asianitis than even my parents… and I thought THEY were bad. Northwestern is a great school, and many people would kill to get in, so be proud when you get that fat envelope, and just remember that even though your dad is complaining now, that he’ll finally shut up when you do so many more great things than he could have ever done.

Aw, thank you scorp_ion. And yes, we’re Korean. He only knows about Stony Brook 'cause it’s like Asian central.

I’d recommend the information session. I took my daughter down for it last week and it helped us understand the GSP program a lot more. I don’t have concerns about her ability to move into the CAS program she wants following her two years at GSP and I love the small class size and educational philosophies that are part of the program. Our first reaction, like most of you, was disappointment at not getting into CAS, despite stellar numbers. After visiting the school and sitting through the information session, we both are so excited about the opportunities there for her. We’re still waiting on Fordham and Syracuse, but assume she’ll get into both… then the money games begin. Good luck!

collegemom i know alot of ppl have attempted to explain GSP but i still dont geddit! pls explain what exactly it is. eg if i applied for stern and got GSP (that didnt actually happen yet) will i still be able to study finance? or what? im confused =S

starting this year NYU isn’t going to refer Stern applicants to GSP anymore

oh it’s just CAS or what? so if stern applicants dont get stern they just get rejected?

most of the GSP referrals are going to be CAS applicants…no Stern applicants at all so it’s either an acceptance or a rejection

Once again…

GSP is primarily for CAS applicants, considering it’s a subdivision of CAS. A very small amount of GSP referrals are given to Gallatin and Tisch Film Studies applicants.

ok sorry kezbies geez some of us dont read EVERY SINGLE POST

Got into GSP today! So I’m assuming not all the letters have gone out yet.
