flyguy i was just reiterating? there was no negative connotation there?

congrats cheerchick012!

^^ thank you! are you still waiting for a decision…

I got my referral for GSP in the mail yesterday and after reading quite a bit about it, I’m fairly happy with the situation.

As far as my stats go:
White male
650 Math 690 Verbal 800 Writing
30 ACT
610 US History 670 Literature
10 APs
3.7 unweighted GPA
19/314 rank

I’m a member of a few clubs (Secretary of National Art Honor Society, orchestra stuff, etc.) Don’t have any community service.

Two more of my friends at my school also got a letter for GSP yesterday. I’m from Columbia, South Carolina, by the way.

Is anybody else going to be at the March 19th information meeting?

wow. Guess they weren’t kidding when they say that competition is fierce this year! to the poster above: those are pretty decent stats…I’m a little surprised you got GSP’d because I’ve seen people with lower stats than you get into CAS…

ACCEPTED TO GSP

SAT: 1860
Rank: 1 of 337
G.P.A: 4.44

stoked.

yes cheerchick012, i’m still waiting =/

I guess I’m starting to freak out a bit- my stats are M 610, V 690, W 800, and my GPA is UW 3.87/W 4.37, but I applied to Gallatin- my brother had slightly lesser stats (same M/V, 710 W) last year and was GSPed when he applied to CAS. I have no idea what to expect since there’s no data re: how difficult admission to Gallatin is. :(

same here, im starting to get annoyed when i see that there are so many people that received gsp letters and yet they say that they did’nt send them all out. why cant they send them all out at one time. oh and my stats are-1320/1950 and my GPA is 4.0 UW i applied to CAS.

I’m basically losing all hope of being accepted, considering the amazing individuals with great stats that I definitely do not have. This is such a difficult process, especially when you know that a rejection is imminent, but I’m trying to stay positive.

^^ god, my feelings exactly. i’m really banking on my essay because i know that that’s what separates me from everybody else. le sigh.

got into gsp!

stats:
SAT 1930 (740 CR 600 M 630 W–>the writing section bummed me out coz it’s so constricted!def not the way i write!)
rank: 31 out of 328
GPA: 91.9

international credentials though

couple of school posts: VP and Pres of the Senior Student Gov
Assoc Editor of the Campus Paper
Student coordinator of outreach progs
high school chorale
speech choir
social committee
yearbook

to all of those waiting for a letter of GSP referral or RD acceptance, just hang tight and think WIN-WIN! i just stopped myself from thinking about it all the time and then the letter arrived… it might work for u guys! :)

got into GSP yesterday
stats: SAT 2020…ACT 31…GPA…3.4
…some other school, here i come!

To kezbies & NYUjosh,

don’t lost hope, nothing is imminent because there is always a chance. We just have to believe and hope for the best.

Never lose hope. Everyone is amazing in some way.

thanks CSiu and RacPaime… it’s just so hard, haha. i know that i am an intelligent, hard-working person and i just want to prove that to NYU! haha, it does help to stay positive, but the waiting is just KILLER.

i just got into GSP… and i dont know what to think about it? im disapointed because of all the negative feedback i’ve been reading about… but if NYU didnt want me they would have rejected me… right? if anyone could spread some light id appreciate it… thanks!

confused6666, think about it this way… it’s like the borg… hahaha… you are not yet a “perfect” candidate to become a drone…so they put u into a maturation chamber…after u emerge, you are fully integrated into the collective like all else…

if they didnt want u they wouldnt assimilate you at all…

did the analogy make sense? hehehe

i for one consider it a challenge to show everyone that i am not “less” or “inferior”… n’est pas? hehe

confused6666…it is a great thing to be accepted to GSP it just seems that this happens to be an extremely competitive year…GSP has some excellent opportunities as well, such as smaller classes and immediate study abroad options
