RD to GSP

Thanks! lol I already got into NYU early this year, just asking for my friend. :)

I got mine in the mail. I got an email confirming my request for a formal acceptance package, though.

Londonb- Thanks! I can’t go to the next info session, as its next week and I live in Florida, so I’m hoping to hear of another at a more convenient time.

I just received an e-mail today from NYU saying that I have also been rejected from CAS but admitted to LSP. It’s actually a surprise considering my stats were not that great.

Should I just accept the offer first then decide later?

And another thing, is it hard to make friends and adjust to NYU on your third year after LSP?

I don’t think you can accept the offer and decided later because by accepting the offer that would mean you’re choosing to go to NYU.

No to the friends thing, I mean you’re going to be taking classes and stuff at NYU, so you’ll find friends anyway. It’s not like they keep LSP kids in some secluded dungeon lmao

Oh, never mind. I phrased it wrong. Sorry.

I guess so. But apparently some students look down on LSP students.

Sillyworld

There are always people who think they are above it all and feel the need to look down on others. But here’s the math. There were 37,180 applications this year for a freshman class of 4,400. To everyone who got accepted to NYU, congratulations!. You all beat some very high odds. I think the acceptance rate last year was just above 25%. This is a very hard school to get into.

Sillyworld, there are few instances of people looking down on the LSP students. From the start, NYU freshmen live together in dorms, eat together, go to the same events, join the same clubs. Some LSP students, depending on their circumstances, have taken courses in their intended school in fall of freshman year. Some will leave LSP after 3 semesters as they have 16 or more accepted AP/college credits.

You have to decide if it’s for you. Read the course descriptions, compare them against the MAP plan requirements for CAS. Read the webpage carefully. Go to the information session and talk to as many LSP students as you can.

Good luck with your decision!

I had posted this on another thread. Hopefully this will be of help to those of you “on the fence.”

From the NYU Admissions Bulletin Board:
“We select about 10% of the applicants to New York University for this program. We select students for Liberal Studies that have not been offered admission to their first choice school (predominantly due to our highly selective admissions process), but whom we believe to be excellent matches for NYU. They are typically liberal arts-minded, academically competitive, and independent thinkers. While the large majority of students offered admission to Liberal Studies have initially applied to the College of Arts and Science, we also select a few students from the Gallatin School of Individualized Study and the film program within the Tisch School of the Arts.”

Thank you so much Chelsea and londonb. :)

I got my LSP offer by email, and it asks you to confirm (within 3 weeks) that you want a formal OFFER of admission in the mail. I mean I asked for a formal offer just so that I have enough time to wait for replies from other schools. That is not binding in any way, right?

No it’s not, don’t worry.

Is it true that most international students are deferred to LSP because NYU wants to make sure they can get used to living in the US and everything?

Haha no, I don’t think so. That wouldn’t make sense. They just get deferred for the same reasons as anyone else: lower stats. Though for some reason they’re not offering the Washington Square campus to some international LSPers.

My stepsister lives in Trinidad and was accepted today to GSP, so I could see what faboulmagd is saying. I’m kinda jealous because I applied to CAS and won’t find out till march. The way I see it is she get to go to London for a year and get a degree from NYU, where is the downside?

I got GSPed TOOOOOO T_TTTTTTTTT

1310 Sats.

Sats= biology = 710 literature = 660

T_T

could anyone who is currently premed and lsp shed some light on the program??

I’ve taken a few classes as apart of dual enrollment at my school, a few of them not going towards college credit (AP Psychology, Spanish III, Modern Fiction, etc.) and I’m thinking about taking another class over the summer. I also have a 4 on the AP Eng. Lang and US History. Would it be worth taking a class over the summer? Would NYU seriously accept these credits?

hi i have a question. about the selection of the four cities. i actually chose to be in nyc.is there any way that i can check it out if nyu offers me a place in nyc?

If you have any questions on LSP, you can message me.
I am a current NYU LSP freshman. I am living on campus with a disability, so if you have any questions on that I may be of some assistance.

-PS
people at NYU DO NOT look down at LSP students. MANY kids in LSP have very high GPAs and SAT scores. Same as CAS, etc. The formula that gets you into LSP is unknown.
For instance, I’m here on a full scholarship. Merit. and in LSP. So they clearly did not put me in here because they thought I was stupid.
I was Home Instructed for two years. So, perhaps they wanted to ease me in in a smaller environment. LSP is like a school within a school, which I’m sure someone must have said in here already.

PPS
I am a history major.
