Re-re applying

One thing that I do not understand. Suppose that OP is trying to decide between taking a post-graduate year of high school at a boarding school, versus going to university and living in a dorm at university with a bunch of university freshmen. How does the “boarding school experience” differ in this case? I might be missing something.

Agree…as I stated upthread, in the near future the OP can start thinking about college matches rather than continue to focus on a couple of hyper-competitive boarding high schools they have already been rejected from twice.

I would caution the OP to create a college application list that includes reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable and that they would be excited to attend.

I would encourage the OP to look at LACs for college. Parts of this will be similar to the BS experience while it is also a college experience. This may make them feel less like they have missed out.

You need to take a hard look at why you think you are not getting into these schools. Sometimes it is just a numbers game, other times it is genuinely about fit, no matter how much someone may want to go to the school. A school may not see the applicant as a good fit. Yes, you may have grown, but I guess that depends on what they are looking for and unless you can really understand that intangible nuance, it will be hard to impress in such a challenging entry year. Without widening your net, it is hard to believe this is about BS vs. name. And you may have your heart set on a certain school, and tenacity may count for something, but it needs to come with serious introspection and framing. You may also have a Better chance at some schools that have not soured on you. Love the school that loves you.
