I have no awards or recognitions except for maybe two speech recognitions for districts (2nd and 3rd). I’m looking at wannabe Ivy schools (Rice, JHU, UChi, WashU). How much does this hurt me?

me.duh,
How are your stats? When do you graduate? Is there time for you to add an interesting EC? I know a girl who got into JHU (biomed engineering) and she had great grades and was a Hispanic merit scholar, but that was about it.

WSU or UW?

Gimme your SAT and GPA and I can give you a pretty clear yes or no on U Dub.

Aren’t you an international as well? that hurts a lot :(

Not an international anymore. Greencard came through, and I’m getting a SS# in a week or two.

GPA: 3.9000 (Yes, THAT exact)
No additional credit for AP or Honors classes.
Class Rank: somewhere in the top 8-10%

SAT, the first time:
M: 770
CR: 640
W: 700
Total: 2100

SAT, the second time:
M: 750
CR: 610
W: 750
Total: 2100
***I am retaking it again. And studying my butt off. I know the CR score needs to go WAY up. I’m hoping for at least a 700.

PSAT: 205, semifinalist for National Merit

SAT II Bio: 760
In October, I’m taking Math IIC and Chemistry. Projected scores are 740+.

AP Bio: 5
AP Chem: waiting scores, probably 4
AP Calc AB: waiting scores, probably 5

By the time I graduate, I will have taken every AP class and test my school has to offer (which, sadly, is only 6), as well as complete 4 college courses that my school is paying for. (2 math classes, 1 biology class, 1 chemistry class.)

My extra-curriculars are my weakest points.

Freshman year: volleyball
Sophomore year: Harmony (this equity thing), Speech, Drama
Junior Year: Harmony, Speech, Drama, Junior Leadership (for which I did crap for)
Senior Year: Harmony, Speech, Drama, maybe Model UN

By the time that normal apps are due, I’ll have maybe 90 hrs of volunteering at the hospital.

I’m looking into majoring in biochem and psych, and possibly minoring in neurology. Or just majoring in two of the three. -_-; Or majoring in one and minoring in 2. I really, really like all three.

Congratulations on joining the United States! Good luck on your apps, but if I had to venture a guess, we’ll both be members of UChicago class of 2011.

Raise your test scores (which it looks like you’re after) and you should be fine for Rice. GPA is great, interesting person (background), and I think your ECs are fine. You’d be surprised how many ppl I know that got into Rice WITHOUT amazing ECs.

Of course you know Chicago doesn’t care SO much a/b test scores…just write killa essays.

JHU and WUSTL…I dunno just show interest in WUSTL and they’ll probably really care a/b test grades so try and get em up.

Sry dunno much a/b JHU but you are a decent applicant.

Thanks guys! That makes me feel quite a bit better about myself. =)

Mike, hopefully we will. However, since UChi isn’t really a sciences oriented school, I’ll only go if they give me a ton of money. @.@

Neither. WUSTL.

I actually thing your test scores are very good, considering that colleges will look at the highest score in each section, and your high AP scores, and potential high sat II scores. Your gpa is great…the only downfall is your ec list. If Rice cares least about ec’s, maybe apply there ed.

how the hell is a 205 a semifinalist, even the lowest cutoffs were around 210
