What happened to this reading list which was talked about in previous posts? I guess we aren’t getting one?

… Haven’t heard of one…

Got the book in the mail today…looks like a… uhhh… fun read.

there’s a book to read? btw, whats the easiet major at west point?

Yea, I just got it today so look for it in the mail I guess. And the easiest major, and the most interesting/useful in my mind, is Military Science (I think thats what its called)

i heard systems engineering is pretty easy…i don’t see how though because it’s basically mech and electrical engineering combined.

Systems is NOT mech and EE at USMA…it’s more like system opitimization, be it how to get to A,B,C,D,E in the most efficient manner, or how to make something else work better. Truly, “the easiest” major is going to differ on your strengths. You’ll take enough mandatory course your 1st two years (nearly ALL mandatory) that you’ll get a good idea of what you’re good at and what you’d like to do for your major…don’t try to look just for the easiest, but the one most satisfying and enjoyable to you. The good thing about USMA is that ALL of the majors play in some way or another—and you will become VERY well rounded!! I used to despise taking the EN (systems in fact) classes and some math, etc…but they hit on the “EN thought process” and as much as I hate to admit it, they were right.

whats the book?

Haven’t gotten mine yet either? Is it long?

Its some dumb ethics book, we got it at SLS too, I just get mail really early cuz I live 40 miles away from WP.

“Its some dumb ethics book”

“Dumb” and “Ethics” used in the same sentence…hmmmmmmm

dumb ethics? check out the air force academy and the agenda for change. hahahaha

Agreed, ADA. Just go to their main webpage. Theres a link at the bottom…

The reason I call it some dumb ethics book is because I dont think you can teach someone ethics by making them read something, and besides its not exactly a page turner if you know what i mean.

I read the book last year after receiving it at SLS. While the content is pretty good, this guy really needs to get a better editor or actually look over his own writing. I found at least 15-20 errors/typos while reading the book.

so is it long or not?

Ethics training at West Point…better get used to the idea.

Ethics training is a part of most Business Schools curriculum these days, not just at service academies–and for good reason. Particularly over the last 10 years more and more of our so-called business and political leaders have been found to be lying, cheating, and stealing their way to “successful” careers.

The author, Len Marrella, is a graduate of West point. Read the book. Don’t look for typos or mis-spelled words, or bad grammar. There is a lot of good stuff contained within it’s covers.

Think of it as your first experience with the Thayer method. You have your homework. What will you do with it? Good Luck.

shogun? were you in the service?

Nope, but I have had enough ethics training in the world of business to start my own seminar! :)
