REAL life example?

hey guys

i’m just wondering if you have seen any real life example of people getting into IVIES without STRAIGHT As in the past few years?

like one c in frosh year and several b’s in junior and soph?

if you have c in frosh and b in junior, does that mean you have to be superstar/legacies/athlete to get in?

any real examples you can share?

thanks!

Simple answer to your question, No.
But i believe you could get into a Top Ranked College with a meager amount of B’s freshman year. Following straight A’s the following years.

yeah. she went to harvard

i take that back…she had one high B
rest were staight A’s, 5/650ish

I know people who got in without unweighted 4.0s, but generally with only a couple B+s. However, if everything else is amazing, I don’t think a C and a couple Bs would totally discount you.

I got a B junior year and one senior year and I’m going to Columbia in the fall

Also, the Ivies aren’t everything. I would’ve been really happy at UChicago, too, and when they accept you they tell you they don’t care that much about grades (and accept about 40% of their applicants)

schmivy, so You got straight A’s freshman and sophmore year?
Thats dedication…

i got my fair share of Bs. definitely more than one. i might have even had a B- once. i go to harvard.

So in the core subjects of languages, english, math, science, and history, one or two Bs sophomore year won’t kill you?

I’m pretty sure I had at least 95 in AP Euro, Chem, and English and above a 90 in Italian. But I think I had a low B in Algebra II/Trig Honor and Hebrew Honors. If I have above 95s in everything junior year, I’m not screwed?

comptinedunautre,

definitely not. i only took core subjects in high school because i was in band so i didn’t have room for electives. i got b’s in them (well, some of them) and i was fine.

no, you’re not. take a deep breath and enjoy your summer. nobody expects perfection.

We have a kid from my school who is going to Princeton and he definitely did not have straight As. He wasn’t in the top 10%, but took high level courses. I don’t think he got any Cs, but he accumulated 7 or 8 Bs.
