We had a bit of drama this weekend with younger d and her friends, so i am going to give some general advice and wisdom, and rules fo safety to the teen girls out there and for reminders moms need to share with their ds and ds friends: (most of this is obvious, but amazing how when a bunch of girls get together, there is a whole lot of assuming going on)

When going out, be sure you ALL know when you are meeting up afterwards

Make sure you ALL know where the event, party, dance is being held, don’t assume you know, or that others know, it is YOUR responsibility to know exactly where you are, not count on the guys driving you, or the moms to know (i may know, but if something happens, and another parent needs to pick you up and you are confused as to the location, well)

Make sure you all have tickets, cell phones, cash, ID cards, whatever, and remind each other and double check when getting out of a car, leaving the place, etc, that you all have your stuff, and ask each other "hey, everyone got their bags- let’s roll)

if one can’t get into the event, NO ONE GOES IN…no leaving one of the group behind…if you have all reminded each other, tickets etc shouldn’t be forgotten, but say there is a problem, going to the dance and leaving friend outside is NOT cool…flirting with some guy while friend is alone waiting is NOT classy…

If friend is upset, stick by her, don’t think hanging with other people is the right thing to do

If you know your friend isn’t a big drama queen, and something is up, stand by her

if your friend is talking to security, that DOESN"T mean all is just fine…friend could be in trouble, something could have happened to her, etc…just thinking, ah, she is taken care of is just cold…at least check to see if you can help and pay attention

When it is time to leave, don’t wander off to say good bye to someone, mom doesn’t like cirlcing the block ten times while everyone is looking for you, text them good bye

Do NOT leave event or gathering UNLESS your parents know, the other people you went with know, and the person who is responsible for picking you up knows

If you are getting ride with someone else, fine, but be sure and TELL SOMEONE, even if its your own parents getting you

Take care of your belongings

If you see another person in trouble- try and help them or get someone who can

Don’t gossip about what you may percieve as a fight or argument, things are seldom as they appear

And if you and your friend had a tiff, don’t make it worse by ignoring the person, who is supposed to be your friend- say something like, hey, love ya, give a hug, and we will talk about it later, meantime, lets have some fun- you know that most of those tiffs end within a few minutes anyway, why let it ruin a night?

and finally, remember, that your Gfs are more important than any guy you are flirting with, that you always make sure your friends are safe and that you know where they are

If girls did that, and many do, but sometimes when a bunch of girls get together, they get distracted…sometimes a big group is worse than a trio, a trio KNOWS they have to pay attention, a big group assumes someone else is

And sometimes girls feel like they are doing the mother thing when they act responsibly and remind each other or double check information, etc…they need to be reminded that is just adult like behavior, its not nagging your friends to make sure they all have their IDs, its common sense so that all can have a good time

One of my younger Ds friends is about as self absorbed as you can get…but she has “issues” as she reminds me, and THAT is why she behaves as she does…argghhhh
