Realistic College Ideas

Im currently a junior and my counselor wants me to get some schools together and I was wondering if u guys could give some realistic ideas. I want to stay on the east coast and major in math or physics. I go to an average NJ high school, but we send at least 5 HYPSM a year.

THANKS AHEAD OF TIME

RPI, Northeastern, Georgia tech, etc. If you are open to moving out of the east, maybe Rose Hulman or UMichigan.

bump…anymore ideas…i’ll chance back!

For Math or Physics, try to put MIT, Princeton, Harvard on the list. If you want to venture out to the West Coast, put Stanford, Caltech , UCB, on the list.

Lehigh, Union, Johns Hopkins, Carnegie Mellon, Duke. Have you given any thought to a service academy (Navy or WP)?

a little bit, but not any serious thought…I don’t like the idea of being stuck to a job for a few years without an option, even if the pay is good…I’d have to think about it more

Nothing superb but you seem to have a good shot at many great schools.

If you want to stay on the east coast, pick one or two from HPM as reaches, CMU, JHU, RPI, and Duke as matches/low reaches, and whatever else you want for safeties (maybe Rutgers or something).

However, I do suggest you think about other regions. I am a future physics major as well and (outside of the east) I applied to Caltech, Stanford, HMC, UChicago, and Rice which all have excellent physics/math programs. There are also many other schools which I haven’t mentioned which are all quite good.

Forgot to mention some other good Ivies for physics: Cornell and Columbia.

Thanks. Yea I knew about Cornell’s physics program and was pretty impressed by it. And I looked at Caltech, but really don’t think I have the slightest chance of getting in haha. And how is like Duke’s math program/ do I have a chance getting in?

bump…what about less tech/science/math-oriented schools, even though I know thats what i asked for

Stanford, all the UC’s, Cal Poly SLO,
