Really bad ACT writing score?

<p>On the April 13th ACT test, I got a relatively high composite score (35), but received a writing test score of 7. Will this ruin my chances of getting into any prestigious colleges? I heard that many UC colleges don’t even look at applications with writing scores lower than 8.</p>

<p>Other info: I’m hoping to get into UC’s as an engineering/physics major.</p>
