<p>Yes, the common app requires that you limit your activities to a certain number so that you choose the most important.</p>
<p>I think you'd put the name of the actual activity in the description, and just put member or whatever position you actually held in the position held box.</p>

<p>Keep in mind that all Common App colleges understand that applicants are limited in what they can report. Just do your best. Pick the category that seems most applicable to the activity you want to list (or select "Other" is nothing seems quite right), and then use the two spaces available to describe as you wish.</p>
