Really Gilbert?

Latest in a long line of stupidity for Gilbert Arenas

Too bad it’s his girlfriend and not his wife.

Men did feel that way at one time. Fortunately, most guys seem to want to be involved in the birth of their babies now. I don’t care what the parental relationship is … the man should support the woman through labor, and he should be there for the birth of his child (unless he can’t for reasons like deployment).

A Boston Bruins player, Brandon Carlo, almost missed Game 1 of their playoff series vs Florida due to the birth of their first child. COMPLETELY different approach. The baby was born at 3 AM, and he arrived in Florida a couple of hours before game time. There is video of his teammates greeting him as he arrived–nothing but hugs and congratulations. He scored 2 goals and a teammate made sure to retrieve the puck for him so he could give it to his son one day.

He was interviewed by Sports Center on ESPN afterward, and again, nothing but kind words and best wishes from the host Brad van Pelt.

Even though your job is a game, it is still a game and not life.
