Really low standardized test scores...

haha cbreeze no tats not how i normally rite but yes its how i rite on the internet but i guess we’ll seee

…yea i noe…i guess well find out in december

I agree with superdrive’s previous comments. 1/870 is obviously impressive, no matter how “easy” the competition is according to some of the previous posters. I am 1/450 some in my class this senior year and my SAT’s scores are low (2090) are low as well… I know a kid whos ranked bottom 50 percent who has almost 2300 SAT scores… what does that imply?

…It implies that he studied for his SAT but not for class?

I dont get it :frowning:
how do “resources” help a person get a better SAT score?
I’ve known people who have paid thousands of dollars for tutors, classes… and they still don’t do well on the exam.
To me, the SAT is like a “final exam” sort of thing… you study for it, you most likely do well…

when we say first generation, does it still count if my parents didn’t go to college in the U.S? i don’t think so?..

btw, some ppl are just good test takers while others are not.
i literally couldn’t breathe when i sit down to take the SAT

It means that your parents never attended college ANYWHERE.

Does not count if they got their degrees in China or India or Mexico.

SumKute- You are a Super Star! You are the type of person that makes America great. You work hard. Fingers crossed that you get into the school you want. Continue to excel & you will succeed & be a leader wherever you are. Any college, any place.

wow! thx oreo! I will! That’s the one thing i’m most proud of my hard work ethic n u saw it right away! thanks again!

I just found out my ACT scores today and got a 30. does that increase my chances at all? just to refresh everyone of my stats. Thx

Be sure to show your work ethic in those essays. Of course there are people with better test scores, but not many people are ranked 1/809, are involved at school & also work in a restaurant to help your family. I am really excited for you and expect you will do great things!

i would actually be surprised if you DIDNT get in

thx guys =) im still waiting for my november sat scores…i think i also improved on them too (knock on wood)

btw oreo my personal essays was about my parents how they’re always working n through it taught me my strong work ethics n the sort how i wanna work for a better future for all of us.

@yournamehere: Really?..I was quite rushed for the essay section but other than that…I found napping time for most of the other sections. I guess the time would have been better spent checking over my answers…but I hated checking answers more than twice ;)

sum kute angel… what did you get on science?

=( if only i received ur msg to me on the tactics maybe my scores would have differed…i got
E=31
M=32
R=30
and science which killed me
S=25…

you seriously don’t have to be that smart to get have a high class rank. I know a couple of students in the top ten who have sats around 2000. they study to death and memorize everything. other kids with high sat scores 2200+ have pretty good grades but everyone knows its because they are too involved in other things or don’t study as much.

hey cit so your pretty much saying im not smart n spend all my time studying bc im not involved in other things? i think im pretty involved…

sumkuteangel i think that your ACT scores will help! everything else u have going for you sort of downplays the scores, and honestlyy scores are not everything! i dont think colleges will consider a test you took on one day where there could have been a million complications more important over what you have done for FOUR YEARS throughout high school. to be 1/809 is amazing so dont let anyone tell you otherwise! im rootin for youu cuz we are in the same boat (number 1 in class but lower test scores lol)

Since CAS is not as competitive as Wharton you may stand a chance, SomeKuteAngel. I am in the same situation as you and had also applied ED. Let’s hope for the best. I just have one quick question: does anyone know if Penn only accepts one student from each high school?

I don’t mean to be a jerk but you are probably better off going somewhere else besides Penn- if you do well your freshman year in another college, you can always transfer to Penn if you still want to go.
You will probably not get in.
Penn’s 25th SAT percentile is 1330 and you don’t have any hooks to help you out.
