V1236 i don’t think so the one year they accepted 8 from our school but none of them went n then the rates became exceptionally lower but i im pretty sure not one of each high school

your scores are most likely only to hurt you if you’re out of the 50% range. for penn, its SAT 2000-2300, and ACT 31-34, right off of the Penn admissions website. I remember at the info session, the admission officer said a score will attract attention if its on the low side or the high side. But if you’re in the range, don’t worry about it. There’s really no need to try to get a 35 or whatever unless you’re trying to make up for other parts of your application.

oh wow. i just read through this post and what do you know – you went to penn. gov. hc. do you grace zimmerly? she went this summer, like a super solid friend of mine (i hope so).

haha i love how your post is becoming less and less “confidential.” get it? college confidential?

sorry.

but for real, tell me what’s up. unfortunately i turned down hc so we never got to know each other, but that’s alright because like we don’t even know each other so i cant judge whether or not i’d want to know you so yea. oh and good luck on your admits. i’m sure you can get it down.

Penn requires SAT IIs. . .

Do they make exceptions?

they accept the acts in place of SAT IIs…

o yea i knew grace! i lover her she’s such a doll! hope all’s well wit her n columbia!

haha, i don’t know if i would go as far as labelling her a doll, lol jk.

but yea, hopefully we all get into wherever. I made her promise to apply to penn if she gets rejected from columbia and screw HYP even if she gets in.

we’ll see thoguh. only 27 days.

haha yea ur rite more like a doll who doesn’t like to play “dress up” jk lol
r u’s applying to HYP?

lmao, that’s a perfect description.

but yea, i’m not even sure yet where else i’m applying but obviously need to have plans b, and f. so definitely one of the three. bout you.

you just doing A&S or something else?

i need to have other plans too but besides penn i’ve got nothing else in mind…pitts my safety tho n i guess i’ll try sumthing like brown n yale (lots of pressure from parents to go ivy but don’t have subject tests) n only A&S

I just found out my SAT scores today and got a 2040. does that increase my chances at all? just to refresh everyone of my stats. Thx

What are the ACT subscores? This makes a difference? Mostly ACT or SAT so with no subject tests they will probably look closer at the ACT. Since you haven’t taken the subject test or no science AP tests your science score will matter. You have excellent science related ECs so I think that would be important. Good Luck. You should get in based on your enthusiam! Interview yet?

true that. the sub-scores are somewhat pivotal considering you got no subject tests. but definately a lot better on your sat this time around – good job.

subscores
E=31
M=32
R=30
S=25!? =(
Essay=10, E+Essay=30

I thought i was good in science but not the act science…I plan on going into the sciences too i think taking the acts is such a mistake for me…i should’ve jus taken the SAT II’s now im limitted to where i can apply if i don’t get into penn. a lot of my EC’s r science related n i’ve done extremely well at sci oly competitions. I plan on majoring in bio n now my act science has f’ed me up…should i take a science suject test in december?

btw no interview. how can i get one?

well you did apply early so hopefully that should help. but you do know you don’t have to send your act scores anywhere if you don’t want to – unless that is when you registered you said you wanted it sent to penn, in which case, there’s no changing what’s up.

on the other hand if your ec’s are science related, it might balance the sub-score out, you feel me? w/e, don’t worry too much.

no interview with me either. you’re just supposed to sit and wait. i called and asked them about it, and they said that it’s basically just a hat pick of who gets one or not, only 50% of all applicants get em, so we’ll see. there’s really nothing else we can do – i might call my regional rep if nothing flies after thanksgiving.

SumKuteAngel, it’s amazing how close our stats correlate. I had also applied ED at Penn, but knowing my chances are slim, I am applying to Wash U (high reach), John Hopkins, Columbia, Cornell, U of Chicago, Northwestern, Pitt (already accepted, but did not make Honors college), Penn State Honors hopefully, etc. I think we have the same interests of going into the medical field. My goal is to eventually become a cardiovascular surgeon and these colleges basically set you up for a good medical school.

btw cbreeze remember ur comment to me?
“SumKuteAngel, is this how you write normally ? If it is, then I doubt you can improve your SAT score of CR590 and W610.”

i think i jus did CR 690 and W 680 essay 10
I noe the scores aren’t that good but still I improved

Can you still take some subject tests in Dec? If not most schools will require the ACT. It is mostly SAT I and 2-3 subject test or ACT. Maybe the interview will help. Get one yet? Good Luck!

Today I got accepted into PENN CAS!!!
to those of u who beleived in me thank u very much n for the advices
n to those who thought i was never gonna get in due to my low sat scores (or the fact tat i don’t use perfect grammar on the computer…) this jus goes to show tat SAT scores aren’t everything!!!
and to those in the same boat as me there is hope!!!
