Really want to go to UVA, Wake, SMU, but I need advice

I’ve gone to a boarding school for four years, have consistently maintained a gpa of 4.8ish on a 6.0 scale, have improved as a student drastically, taken a few above average classes, four ap classes, 6 varsity letters, have worked extremely hard, and have many accomplishments outside of school. I want to go to UVA as my number 1. Based on what other people have said, I can’t get in. My SAT scores are not great, 1800. Can I get some advice on where I can get in, which school I should go to, etc?

Wake is test-optional, but your transcript may or may not be strong enough for them. You have a pretty good shot at SMU, though.

So how much would applying to wake without test scores hurt me?

Look at Naviance data for those admitted to Wake from your school. See what the GPAs are like. I would not submit SAT scores below Wake’s 25th percentile, and yours appear to be just below it.

For matches or safeties, take a look at schools like Furman, Sewanee, Wofford, and Presby if you’re willing to go smaller. Maybe Rollins since you like SMU’s vibe.

I think you have a good shot at SMU. Also, take a look at Sewanee. Given your other school interests, you might like it.

If you’re not instate for UVA, you have no chance. Your chances are low if you are instate.

What do you like about UVA?

What is your major?

should we assume that because you attend a boarding school that money is no object?
