My aunt lost her husband last year. She is planning on selling her house in CT this spring and moving to the Boston area, where her children live–one in Concord, one in Somerville. I think she’d be happy buying a condo or renting. She has a dog and a cat and her dream apartment would be one with a sliding door outside, on the first floor, but whatever she finds and can afford will do. She’s been looking by herself for about a year but hasn’t found anything that would work. Does anyone have a realtor to recommend? Thanks!

Does she want more urban or rural? Does she want things like public transportation? I don’t know a realtor there, but I might suggest looking in Arlington as it’s between Concord and Somerville. There are some nice condo developments in and around Concord, but Concord does not have public transportation other than Commuter Rail.

What is her budget?

There are a number of over-55 developments near Concord, but they are expensive.

Here’s a unit not far from Concord that is actually quite reasonable:

[20 Northwood Drive #301, Sudbury MA - Trulia](<a href=“20 Northwood Dr #303, Sudbury, MA 01776 | Trulia”>20 Northwood Dr #301, Sudbury, MA 01776 | Trulia)

If she doesn’t want to drive everywhere, there is a rehabbed school right in Concord center that would be a great place to get a condo, but it doesn’t have anything on the market right now.

Arlington would be an urban option, but also quite expensive.

Realtors here are usually specific to towns. I live in Brookline, for example, so I could refer for Brookline and maybe parts of Newton with confidence, but that’s all.

Same as Lergnom - I have someone who works mostly exclusively in Southie, which is a very up and coming area. Let me know if you want a name.

Research specific neighborhoods or areas in the Boston area if you desire reasonable access to public transportation. There are some areas where one needs a car because public transportation access is lacking.

Knew a a few places I ended up rejecting for apartment rentals because one would need to take 2-3 buses to get to the nearest T station/Bus route into Boston if one lacked access to a car.

^^Can her children help her find a place? Or recommend someone by asking around? It seems as if they would know who the realtor offices in the area would be…maybe they can set up an app. for their mom to meet with someone on the phone, and then in person…

I tried to send you a private message, but it’s telling me I can’t because even tho I have posted many times on Parent Cafe, I haven’t posted more than 15 times in the forums where the posts get counted. Not sure if you can send me a PM, but give it a try and maybe I will be able to reply to yours. I have an idea for you …

This realtor is “the” realtor in Concord: [Brigitte Senkler, Real Estate Agent - Concord - 23 Monument St (Concord, MA) Real Estate Office - Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage - New England - NewEnglandMoves.com](<a href=“Brigitte Senkler, Real Estate Agent - Concord, MA - Coldwell Banker Realty”>Brigitte Senkler, Real Estate Agent - Concord, MA - Coldwell Banker Realty) and has been for a very long time.

I can recommend a top realtor in Cambridge, if that’s an area of interest.
