Reapplying after a gap year?

Hey guys,

So I'm planning to take a gap year in which I improve my IB scores to apply for the class of 2013. However to do so I would have to start applying right now. But since I take a gap year and will only be appearing for the external exams I won't be "part of the school" now. Thus when I apply does my ranking in the class (ex 1 out 100) stay the same as that of the previous academic year. Does the transcript also the same? And do the recommendations have to change?

Thanks a lot in advance for your replies.

Your high school rank and transcript stays the same. But, Harvard does not consider ranking as a factor in admissions.
